The Truth
You cannot be saved by being a 'good person':
"For by grace are ye saved through faith...Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8a-9 KJV)
And there are not 'many paths’ to God, there's only One:
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6 KJV)
The Bible tells us that everyone is a sinner:
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23 KJV)
You must realize that there is a punishment for sin:
"For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23a KJV)
This does not mean only physical death, but also spiritual death:
"...fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28b KJV)
Jesus died on the cross for your sins:
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8 KJV)
And then He rose from the dead, conquering death:
"Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly;" (Acts 10:40 KJV)
Because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, eternal life becomes a free gift from God:
"...by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life." (Romans 5:18b KJV)
"...the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23b KJV)
But just like any gift, it doesn't become yours until you receive it. To receive God's gift of eternal life you must call on the name of the Lord:
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13 KJV)
Time is growing short and you should not put off your decision. The Bible tells us:
"(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)" (2 Corinthians 6:2 KJV)
There is no other way to be saved than by Jesus, and there is no better time than now to receive salvation. -
I've just received information from one of my sources that due to having three wives and being confined in a compound for five months that Osama Bin Laden called the Seal team himself. :icon_mrgreen:

So does anyone have anything further ideas to contribute to the thread?
:umno: -
But maybe we are starting to go round in circles.
We?!? You got mouse in your pocket? :shootme: -
PS: after all the to and fro of the past few hours, no-one seems to have answered this point yet....
(Just wondered..)
Blessings.
Just taking a stab here, but I'm betting it's 'cause we're ignoring it. :heh: -
Okay, here we go again:
Man you're hard.
:heh: -
Keifer:
Thanks for this; the same passage seems to say about not shaving. Do you shave? and how do you handle it exegetically?
Blessings.
The passage says nothing of shaving Farouk, nor insinuates so. You need to go to the original Hebrew text for your answer. The word used in this Scripture for 'cuttings' is "sehret" which means "an incision". In modern vernacular it would mean 'piercings'. The verse is saying not to make any piercings in or tattos on your flesh.
As a father one has to do as he's led when dealing with his son. If he were mine, there would be neither piercings nor tattoos as long as he lived in my house. -
How strongly would you try to dissuade a 17-year old from getting an eyebrow barbell?
Barbell?!? If he's strong enough to lift it, he's old enough to wear it.
Seriously though, take this for what it's worth:
"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD." (Leviticus 19:28) -
Yes, the first post can be read Farouk, but I'm unable to make the next two posts of the topic as it should be. Look at the first three posts in the old one:
The board is not letting me do that now. Some kind of a software glitch that Matt's working on. -
Sorry Matt, but the new software doesn't like my topic either. It's timing out on everything but a few words after the first initial post.

Mods or Matt,
Please delete this topic as I can't get it format correctly. Thanks...

Keifer:
Great emphasis on the finality of the Cross in Romans 9 & 10: 'once offered'; 'one offering'.
Blessings.
Amen Farouk. Once for Him, and once for us (Galatians 2:20). Here's today's offering...
And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. (Isaiah 25:9) -
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. (Hebrews 9:28)
-
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28)
-
When we were enemies, Christ died for us; glory be to His name!
Amen! Here's today's offering...
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: (Romans 15:8) -
A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. (Luke 2:32)
-
Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. (Acts 28:28)
-
And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. (Luke 13:29)
-
Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. (Isaiah 49:22)
-
Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him. (Psalms 72:11)
