  1. I don't "enforce" Baptist culture...that's not my job. I'm not so offended by someone having an earring that it would stop me from associating with them. I have many friends who have them...but that doesn't mean I like it...I don't have to. Everyone can give account for what they put in or on their bodies, just as I have to give an account...I don't answer for them, and they don't answer for me.

  2. Yes, it is! If JESUS is OUR EXAMPLE, he himself called out the religious fanatics and hypocrites of his day, and even some of the wicked people. The Bible tells us that we can judge people by their fruits brought forth in their lives. Your OP seems pretty judgemental to me towards the people here while you're trying to make yourself look innocent...doesn't cut the mustard here!

  3. Remember everyone, even the Old Testament has a book called Thou-Shalt-Not-Judges… oh wait, that’s not what it’s called. Silly me. Totoo, you will never get far in life or in your walk with the Lord if you rip things out of context. The Bible is all one seamless book. It does not contradict itself. If you arrive at a conclusion that sets passages against one another - such as believing you should never judge anything or anyone - you are deceiving yourself. The Bible teaches all God’s people are to judge ALL things in their life by the Bible, and various passages tell us how to do or not do that. 1 Corinthians 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. Oh man, I guess you just proved to us all that you are not spiritual according to the Lord God Himself. Sad!

  5. Wouldn't "judging" be telling someone they are doing something wrong? Aren't you then judging by telling us we are wrong to judge? Seems a bit hypocritical to me.

  6. We do have a right to judge others as long as it's not hypocritical judgement like the Pharisees were guilty of. We should be very careful in judging other believers and when we do what spirit we do it in and for what purpose.

  11. Bill, the subject at hand which was advocated by you is that the gun shown is an "assault weapon". You, like many before you, consider anything that looks mean an assault weapon, just by its looks. Others commented that a sword can qualify as an assault weapon. So, true to your colors you once again deflect and try to get the thread going in another direction. Not all guns are made for killing and not all guns kill. As I said in one of my first replies to you; Assault is an action, not a device. I don't think they are the same person; but they both have minds that zero in on certain specific things to the exclusion of anything else. I think this is called a "one track mind".

  12. Sorry to burst your bubble Jeff, but not all medical establishment or doctors are evil. In the past century there has been much good coming from the medical establishment, cures, medicine and research that has saved lives from things that have plagued us or centuries. God gave us doctors and medicines, not all healing is miraculous. Your many threads and replies seem to always downplay medicine, but there is some good in it that you never acknowledge.

  13. Since we married hubby and I have almost always been together, except for his weekend drills with the Army. His last few years in the military he ended up in a unit where he had to go away for annual training, the first was three weeks and that was rough. Most of the time he was able to stay local and come home each evening. The last unit he was in he took me to drill with him. I sat in the lobby and crocheted until the supervisor of the survey team (who is a Christian and lay preacher) took pity on me and put me up in a corner of his department. When hubby retired I gifted him a blanket I had crocheted while camped out there, lol. Hubby takes me on the road with him when he has to work out of town, one of the main reasons is for me to navigate, but also because he doesn't want to go without me. The trips are fun, the travel gives us time to be alone and talk.

  14. For my wife and I, our first date was going caroling through a retirement high-rise in Augusta, GA with the Southgate Baptist Church college and career class. I was engaged to someone else when I met my wife, but because of the long distance between my fiance and me, the engagement didn't last. She found someone in her home-state of Michigan, and I was put in touch with my wife through the sneakiness of my little sisters. They both worked with her at McDonalds. Vivian left to go to Pittsburgh to visit her older sister, and while she was away I became deathly ill and hospitalized with a burst appendix. She nearly came home when she found out, but my sisters convinced her that this wouldn't make me happy at all..they were correct. So, Vivian stayed in Pittsburgh until the day after New Years 1984, the same day I came home from the hospital. We have been together ever since. We were going to get married on Valentines Day, 1984, but we both had to work and we didn't get to the Justice of the Peace's office in Aiken, SC early enough to get a marriage license. Her grandmother and my parents talked us into waiting until at least the last week of April. We got married the first week of May. I had just turned 22 the day before, and Vivian was 20. We both worked two jobs...her at Kroger on 15th Street in Augusta, which they just tore down, and me at Handy City Hardware and Lumber. We also worked in my parent's cleaning business cleaning newly constructed homes before they were moved into. My wife cleaned on the insides, and I cleaned the windows and mirrors of the houses. We did that off and on for several years. We were together so much that at times people thought we were brother and sister. We've spent nearly every day together since we've been married.
