  1. We had some of our own go on deputation in the past and they had to go the extra mile explaining we're not a non-denominational local church. One said she thought it might have cost her some support but we can't know those things for sure. We had changed our sign out front to reflect we were and Independent Baptist some years back but retained the Decatur Chapel on it. It will help folks in the the area know where we stand, to some degree. We're having a new website built too, when it's finished I'll share with you all.

  2. The doctrine is more important than the name, so I'm glad that you are changing the name to reflect your position.

    Changing Our Name

    This distinction is critically important Bro. Matt. I have started a series of adult Sunday School lessons at our church that makes this distinction very clear. It is a series on church history in which the main theme is that it is not the name "Baptist" that is important, it is the doctrine. I have never heard this taught in the context of church history. Most try to teach that one can trace an unbroken line of churches or baptisms and trace church history. I don't believe it. But I do believe that we can know a true New testament church by their doctrine, which will be the same doctrine

    A remnant

    Hello Family of God, My heart grieves over the lost who are deceived and led astray by the cares of this world, its riches, enticements, and earthly pleasures which result in spiritual decay and ruin. Worldliness (e.g., "gambling, bars, nightclubs, wealth, sensuality, physical attractiveness, lusts, etc.,") has crept into the hearts of many "professing" Christians and are now leading them down the broad way towards ultimate destruction and eternal condemnation in the Devil's world which will one day pass away along with all its lusts (cf. Matt. 7:13-14; 24:37-39; Lk. 12:15-20; 15:13;
