  1. Has anyone watched these? I thought it was interesting how the downed trees in Spirit Lake below Mt. St. Helens are sinking by the roots first and making an underwater forest which will not long hence become petrified...like the petrified forrest in Arizona. It doesn't take millions of years.

    Changing Our Name

My local church is changing it's name from Decatur Chapel (Happy may remember us by that) to Decatur Baptist. We're still adhereing to the IFB tenets, instead of moving away from them. Probably wouldn't set well with the liberal leaning crowd for us to be going the other way.

  3. The doctrine is more important than the name, so I'm glad that you are changing the name to reflect your position.

  4. I got to see Dr. Hovind back in '94 I believe it was at my old church. I didn't get to hear him every night because of work but I did catch two lectures. He was good. You are right about him now getting off into post-millennialism and some other peculiar things.

  5. I had considered changing our name from Bible Baptist Church to either Foundation Baptist Church or Pillar and Ground Baptist Church-primarily because of the association that Bible Baptist has come to have with Ruckman. But haven't done so. Perhaps when we are able to purchase our own building again, (or if), then I might do it.

  6. I think I may have seen one of them, though mostly I have watched Kent Hovind's 7-part seminar on creation, very good. He has gone now into some things I don't know that I agree with, but his creation seminar is still very good.

  9. Today we had potluck at church. The church bought fried chicken...and the deli gave us the wrong order. So - they called us and told us our order was still there. They GAVE it to us, so we had an overabundance of chicken. Not only did we feast on it for lunch, we were able to send a bunch home with folks, and deliver some to others. We also had ham, au gratin potatoes, pasta salad, potato salad, veggies, and two different cakes for dessert (lemon, and strawberry shortcake). The best part of the day was the preaching/teaching. On our first Sundays, we have an afternoon service instea

    Changing Our Name

This is wonderful, sounds like a move in the right direction in a day when some are dropping the name Baptist. Shame on any who do!

    Easter

Ten Years after the resurrection of Christ we find that the church in Jerusalem is prospering and the Jews are becoming more and more jealous of the popularity of Christ. This was particularly felt during the Passover week (days of unleavened bread), as the Christians focused less on the Exodus aspects of Passover and more on the Christian aspects culminating with Easter (sunrise) morning Resurrection on the first day of the week after. On this tenth anniversary of the crucifixion Herod wanted to please the Jews by harassing the church by taking Apostle James and executing him. Seeing thi
