My Family in Need of Comfort

So my Dad's remaining brother contracted covid, as did his wife. (Just FYI - this is not a thread about covid, so don't make it so...just know that masking, "social" distancing, isolation, etc., were all practiced by the family and yet he and his wife contracted covid. Viruses are gonna virus...) My uncle, Dave, ended up in ICU on a respirator. Today I was told that they had to take him off everything - they had to remove air from around his heart and lungs, so the oxygen had to be removed. He had suffered a number of strokes and there is no brain activity. And they said it is only a matt4 points -
Yes, with explanation. I have heard previously that "repentance for salvation" is being made into a work IF it is being defined as a "turning from sinful behavior" for salvation. However, those whom I have previously encountered along this line then proceed to indicate that such is a false definition for repentance; and they have further provided a definition that they believe does not make "repentance for salvation" out to be work. (Note: I myself would also hold that "repentance for salvation" is being made into a work IF it is being defined as a "turning from unrighteous behavior unt2 points

While we took a break awhile back we visited Kenting National Park. Kenting national park is on the southern tip of Taiwan and is very scenic. We like to walk among the trees in the forest and just enjoy the beauty of nature. No. But when a culture is steeped in false religion, it’s spiritual thoughts will be based from that. And the examples you have weren’t ‘cultures’ (e.g. Arabian, Nepalese), they were religions (Muslim, Buddhist). Just going off the information you provided.2 points -
Testimony unto the Lords Path and good greeting.
PastorMatt reacted to Hugh_Flower for a topic
Hello All, this is a general rundown of my relationship with Christ. I was born to a single mother who was never there for me emotionally. I watched her cycle through men until she eventually married a man when I was 8. Before her marriage I grew blissfuly unaware of how my life was. My mom and my grandmother attended a very liberal church, Presbyterian with a female pastor. My mom was an occasional weekend warrior church attender all through my youth. God was spoken of very little in the house, and when it was, it was soft. Back as a child I became very worldy, I found provocative1 point -

At the current momment Im just learning a trade and focusing into that. It seems im right where the Lord wants me... I am working on my christian life first and then in due time will put more attention into what it means to be a leader of a ministry and work from there. Of course nothing in my life is bound by what I know now, but at this time this seems like what I should do.1 point -

My aunt got mixed up about the days - they actually did not remove him from the oxygen til this morning. However, he passed as soon as they did. Thankfully his wife was able to be with him. Thank you for praying.1 point -
Never heard of it but it reminds me of the Subject Study Bible which is very expensive but looks outstanding.1 point

I have been reading, "Lectures on the Book of Revelation," by William Kelly. I would like to recommend Kelly's book, "Lectures on the Book of Revelation" to all my friends here on Online Baptist. I will be adding the following quote by William Kelly when he commented on Revelation 3:10 to, "The Special Promise Given to all the Churches," lesson. William Kelly – Kelly’s books are available at the Internet Archive at the "Internet Archive" website: https://archive.org/details/lecturesonbook00kell William Kelly in his, Lectures on the Book of Revelation, alludes to the fact t1 point -

The Northern Baptist Convention is still very much alive. They changed the name to American Baptist Convention, but it is the same as when it was founded. A simple search online will bring up, not only the convention, but individual churches as well.1 point -
Prayer for my friend, Laurie
PastorMatt reacted to Bouncing Bill for a topic
Please pray for my friend Laurie. Her husband Doug died of Covid-19 this morning, Saturday, October 10th. Doug was also a friend. We found we had a number of things in common. Both of us were in the Army in Germany when the Berlin Wall was built in August 1961. We both were in interested in history. Put Laurie, and all wives and husbands who have a spouse suffering with Covid-19. Thanks.1 point -
To Attend Or Not To Attend?
PastorMatt reacted to HappyChristian for a question
I'm sorry, but I would have to disagree with you here. Not about getting the vaccine, which is up to the individual, but about "no kind words" for those who "for religious reason" won't get them. Their reasons for NOT getting vaccines are just as valid as your reasons FOR getting them. Were you not the one who said earlier, "Each, according to the dictates of one's own conscience"? The two postings do not match... And I gotta say - comparing Jesus' - the Creator of the universe- healings to manmade vaccinations? Nah. Just nah.1 point -
Calvanism

Biblicist. Calvinism and Arminianism have some good points, but are both too filled with man's doctrines that I could accept neither. More philosophy than doctrine.1 point -

May God bless all of you, your families, your church, and friends during this Christmas season. May we always remember, and be joyful, of when the Saviour came into the world, robed in flesh, became a man, for the eternal salvation of our souls. The hymns are the courtesy of, 'Tim Janis.' God Bless you all! Alan1 point
