One of the most important habits to develop in the Christian life is that of daily Bible reading. It is the Word of God that has the power to sanctify the believer and build him up in Christ. It imparts conviction, enlightenment, spiritual strength, faith, wisdom, repentance. Consider the following Scriptures: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8). “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall... Read More View the full article

I'm sure that book would be generally good but I have not read it. Also because it comes from "bible.org" it will probably not be using the King James Bible but their version called the "New English Translation" or "NET Bible" as a short name. The "NET bible" is an online "contentiously updated" version of the bible that also cross references many study materials to the bible passage you are reading at the time. Many like it because of the study feature and its ability to quickly be updated to reflect the latest and greatest in scholastic discoveries. The problem with this is that their bible is always changing depending on who is in charge and what the culture pressures them to change at the time. It also becomes too easy to rely on the study material to tell you what the bible says rather than doing the study work yourself. Which may be quicker learning at times but also causes errors of the teacher to be passed down to the student and will be hard to unlearn later when you find the mistake. Modern bible versions encourage the mindset that the "original bible" has been lost so we must "find" and search for older manuscripts that are "closer" to the originals. Therefor, this idea has let to many new bible versions that are contentiously updated and changed. However the bible teaches that God has preserved the bible and has entrusted it to faithful men to pass down to us today and that we will pass it to the next generations (Psalm 12:6-7, 2 Timothy 2:2) . The King James Bible is translated from the faithful text and is considered to be a faithful English translation of what was passed down to us. Therefor our bible does not need to be changed and can be relied on to teach us the truth. As you search online for study material, you will come across generally good teaching materials but if they use a bible different then the King James Bible then you will see that they ultimately do not rely on a faithful bible that was passed down for their teaching but believe the bible and doctrine can be changed based on what men can "discover" from places other than the Holy Bible. The Holy Bible must be the highest authority that changes us and should not be changed by lower authorities (Romans 13:1-2, Psalm 138:2). This goes for the study material we chose to use as well. The best study material will always bring you back to the bible in your study to find your answers. This is why I like the teaching material from www.baptistpublications.org. The book I recommended can be ordered from this link http://www.baptistpublications.org/p/D-ABCB.html I am not sure of how ordering it from China will work but if you are unable to get it then we can look around for an online alternative that might work.

    The beauty of creation

What a beautiful field of flowers! I have had a few cactus plants for about six-ish years now, usually they have a few blooms on them once in awhile. However, this month one of them has the most blooms I've ever seen! Eight flowers, one is smaller and beneath the larger ones. Interestingly, the blooms close up at night and open during the day.

Totoo, I haven't been able to remember nor find the source that I mentioned earlier. I'm sorry. Like Alan, the thing that helped me the most as a new Christian was time alone in the Bible...allowing the Holy Spirit to teach me. I remember those days with such love. Aside from that, one book that really helped me as a new Christian was "Wilmington's Guide to the Bible". A fellow believer (and his family) gave me that book back in 1990, and it was truly a blessing. Though Wilmington may not be considered to be in the same exact lines of belief as Independent Fundamental Baptists, his work in that book (at that time) was very sound. That book is like a simplified college course in Theology. I've tried to find it for free online so that I could send you the link, but all I can find are just a few pages...which are of no help. All that I can attest to is the book that I have from back then. I do know that there has been SEVERAL revisions since then, so I don't know anything about the newer versions. I would be willing to send my copy to you, but I don't know how China handles things like that. Do they inspect packages that are sent by mail? Would you be arrested if you received such an item that is based on the Bible?

    The Day of the Lord

“The Day of the Lord” The day of the Lord, as prophesied by the Old Testament prophets, starts at Revelation 6:1 and continues until Revelation 22:1 as revealed by John the apostle. During ‘the day of the Lord,’ God will fulfill all of the unfulfilled prophecies of the Old Testament prophets. Acts 3:19-23, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed among the people.” The prophesies of the Old Testament prophets revolve around the Lord Jesus. Revelation 19:10, “And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” The context of the phrase “the day of the Lord,” or “in that day,” or “And in that day,” or, “in the last times.” in the prophets of the Old Testament determines whether or not it was a prophecy for the Jews in that time period or for the “end times” as depicted in Revelation 6:1-22:1 In the book of Revelation we can clearly see that the 7 Seals, the 7 Trumpets, the 3 Woes, the 7 Thunders, and the 7 vials run concurrently. The “Day of the Lord” is the fulling of the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets concerning these events occurring in the 7 year Tribulation period and ending in Revelation 21:1 Some examples of the unfulfilled prophecies of the “Day of the Lord” written in the Old Testament book of Isaiah the prophet. 1. Isaiah 2:1-5, “The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.” This prophecy will be fulfilled during the 1,000 Year reign of Christ Revelation 20:3-6 2. Isaiah 2:10-22, “the day of the Lord” verse 12. This prophecy will be fulfilled during the 7-Year Tribulation Period in Revelation 6:1-19:21 3. Isaiah 4:1-6, “And in that day” in verse 1 and 2 is the day of the Lord. This prophecy will be fulfilled during the 1,000 Year reign of Christ as revealed by John in Revelation 20:3-6 4. Isaiah 11:6-16, “And in that day” in verse 10 and 11 is the day of the Lord. This prophecy will be fulfilled during the 1,000 Year reign of Christ in Revelation 20:3-6 5. Isaiah 13:6-16, “day of the Lord” verse 6 and 9. Isaiah 13:6-8, “Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt: And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed at one another; there faces shall be as flames.” Pastor Steven Anderson and the Day of the LORD in Isaiah 13:9-11 In his commentary on Revelation Chapter 6, Pastor Steven Anderson will quote from Isaiah 13:6-8 but he totally ignores the continuation of the prophecy of the day of the Lord as prophesied in Isaiah 13:9-11, “Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkness in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and I will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.” The prophecy of 13:9, “Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners out of it ...” is an apt description of the terrors upon the entire world as the Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Seals in Revelation 6:3-9 and concluding with the opening of the Sixth Seal in Revelation 6:12 The prophecy of Isaiah 13:10 is fulfilled in Revelation 8:12. Revelation 8:12, “And the forth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it and the night likewise.” Therefore, Anderson is mistaken and cannot ‘rightly divide the scriptures.’ Isaiah 13:9-11 is a condensation of the wrath, and terror, of God on the entire world in the opening of the 6 Seals in Revelation Chapter 6.It is my opinion that Pastor Anderson is deliberate in his omission of Isaiah 13:9-11 in order to deceive his listeners. 6 . Isaiah 14:1-3, “in that day” in verse 3 is the day of the Lord. This prophecy will be fulfilled during the 1,000 Year reign of Christ Revelation 20:3-6 Isaiah 19:16-25, “in that day” in verse 16, 18, 19, 23 and 25 is the day of the Lord. This prophecy will be fulfilled during the 1,000 Year reign of Christ in Revelation 20:3-6 7. Isaiah 34:1-3 Isaiah 34:8, “For it is the day of the LORD’S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.” This prophecy will be fulfilled during the 7-Year Tribulation Period in Revelation 6:1-19:21 Isaiah 34:4 will be fulfilled after the Great White Throne of Judgment as recorded in Revelation 21:1 “And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.” Isaiah 34:4 2 Peter 3:10-13, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein he heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” Isaiah 65:7, “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.” This prophecy will be fulfilled in Revelation 21:1, “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.” Anderson and Revelation 21:1, “The Day of the Lord’ The apostle Peter clearly, and unmistakably, said, “But the day of the Lord ...”The apostle clearly quoted Isaiah the prophet from Isaiah 65:17. Therefore, the creation of the “new heavens and the new earth” is an intricate part of “the day of Lord.” In his audio, and text copy, of his commentary on Revelation 21 pastor Steven Anderson after quoting 2 Peter 2:10-13 states, “So the Bible tells us that because we know that everything on this earth is going to be dissolved, and that there is eventually going to be a new heaven and a new earth, that should affect the way that we live our life. I mean, what manner of persons ought we to be, if we know that everything around us is going to be burned up.”i Pastor Anderson does not make one comment on when the apostle Peter said, “… the day of the Lord ...” Furthermore, even though the apostle John is clearly quoting the prophet Isaiah, Anderson will not acknowledge the prophecy of Isaiah 65:17. In my estimation, Anderson omits all of this vital, and doctrinal information, on purpose in order to deceive his listeners on the vitally important doctrine of “the day of the Lord.” Therefore, “the day of the Lord,” is the fulfillment of the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets starting at the beginning of the 7 year Tribulation Period, Revelation 6:1 to Revelation 21:1 Pastor Steven Anderson and the Prophecies fulfilling “The Day of the Lord” Pastor Anderson does not believe that the unfulfilled prophecies, previously quoted, represent “the day of the Lord.” Anderson teaches that only “one day,” the opening of the sixth seal, Revelation 6:12-17, is the complete fulfillment of “the day of the Lord.” Anderson states, “Now, I believe that the day of the Lord is a LITERAL DAY. I’m not saying that it’s an hour period, I’m saying that it’s a day on the calendar as it were.”ii Pastor Anderson is wrong. The ‘day of the Lord’ is the time frame from Revelation 6:1-21:1 Also, according to Pastor Anderson, Revelation 6:12 is ‘the day of the Lord’ when the rapture of the church takes place. Anderson states, “Now, according to Matthew 24:29, when the sun and moon are darkened, Christ comes in the clouds and we are gathered together unto him. So is this a good day for us, or a bad day for us? It's a great day. But if you're not saved, is this a good day when you are left behind to face the wrath of Almighty God? It's a terrible day, it's a horrible day.”iii Again, based on his incorrect interpretation of Matthew 24:29, Anderson teaches that the rapture occurs in Revelation 6:12-17 and that “one day” is, “the day of the Lord.” Conclusion. The “day of the Lord’ is the fulfilling of the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets that occurs as described by John the Apostle in Revelation 6:1-21:1 i Anderson, Steven Revelation 21 copied on April 6, 2019 <http://www.faithfulwordbaptist.org/revelation_21.html> ii Anderson, Steven Revelation 6 copied on April 30, 2019 <http://www.faithfulwordbaptist.org/revelation_6.html> iii Anderson, Steven Revelation 6 copied on April 30, 2019 <http://www.faithfulwordbaptist.org/revelation_6.html>

    The Day of the Lord

To say nothing of the fact that it is literally Christ, God the Son, who took the Book out of God the Father's hand and is opening each of the seals. Also, the fact that much of the Judgement God sent against Israel in their disobedience appeared "man made" but was clearly claimed to be by His determinant will that could be changed. Such as in Ezekiel 21, letting them know the King of Babylon at the crossroads was his doing and what they did next would determine which road God would send him down.

    The Day of the Lord

Zephaniah 1:14-18, “The Day of the LORD- A Time of Wrath” The prophet Zephaniah prophesied, “The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.” Zephaniah 1:14-18 The prophet Zephaniah further stated, “Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.” Zephaniah 3:8 None, may I repeat none, of the prophecies of Zephaniah quoted above has taken place either literally, spiritually, allegorically, since Zephaniah penned these prophecies. All of these prophecies are still future and will commence at the opening of the First Seal in Revelation 6:1 and continue, concurrently, as the Seventh Seal is opened in Revelation 8:1. The continuation of the wrath of God in included in the 7 Trumpets, the 7 Thunders, the 7 Vials and the 3 woes. Therefore, as previously stated, according to the prophets of the Old Testament, “the day of the Lord,” besides the complete 7 years in the Tribulation Period, includes the gathering of the Jews as spoken by the Lord Jesus in Matthew 24:29-31. Introduction - The Old Testament Prophets God gave us the prophets, and the nation of Israel, as an example to clearly show us how He brings His wrath upon men. 1 Corinthians 10:6 & 11, “Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. … Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.” Hosea 12:10, “I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.” God speaks through the prophets. If a person is going to learn the correct, and I emphasize the word correct, interpretation of the book of Revelation than it is of a necessity for that individual to learn the ministry, the visions, the similitudes, the dreams of the prophets of the Old Testament. I will give three examples. First example. In order to know the correct interpretation of Revelation 12:1-6, the woman clothed with the sun, we must go to the dreams of Joseph in Genesis 37:1-11. Second Example. In order to know the correct interpretation of Revelation 6:1-12, the Seven Seals, and determine whether or not it is ‘the wrath of God’ and the ‘day of the Lord’ one must go to the prophets. In conjunction with Zephaniah, in this study we will look at Ezekiel and Isaiah. Third Example. In the Six Seals we see the wrath of God poured out upon the entire world in order to punish the world in the following four judgments: The Sword – Revelation 6:1-4, Famine – Revelation 6:5-6, Pestilence, and the beasts of the earth – Revelation 6:7-8. God used all four of these judgments, clearly stated as His “wrath” on the Jews as in Revelation 6:1-8 as recorded in Jeremiah 15:1-4; 16:1-4 and 32:36-37 and Ezekiel 5:12-17 and 7:15 Zephaniah 1:14-18 and the & 7-Year Tribulation Period “That day is a day of wrath...” The prophet Zephaniah clearly prophesies that the day of the Lord will be a day of wrath. All of the proceeding prophecies in Zephaniah 1:14-18 are clearly seen in the 6 Seals as recorded in Revelation 6 and in the opening of the Seventh Seal in Revelation 8:1 and following. The prophet Jeremiah gave us an example of the “great wrath” of God upon the Jews and as an example to us what God is going to do on a world-wide scale in Revelation 6. “And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely.” Jeremiah 32:36-37 The “great wrath” of God on the nations of the world will commence at the First Seal as recorded in Revelation 6:1-4 Zephaniah further prophesied, “… a day of trouble and distress ...” All of the 6 Seals; the Seventh Seal includes the 7 Trumpets, the 7 Thunders, the 7 Vials, and the three woes, are, “a day of trouble and distress” upon the whole earth. The Lord Jesus emphasized the prophecy of Zephaniah when Zephaniah said, “a day of trouble and distress. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.” Luke 21:26 Zephaniah further prophesied, “… a day of wasteness and desolation ...” All of the 6 Seals, including the Seventh Seal that includes the 7 Trumpets, the 7 Thunders, the 7 Vials, and the three woes, are, “a day of trouble and distress” upon the whole earth. Zephaniah further prophesied, “… and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness ...” This coincides with the prophecy of Isaiah 9:19, “Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel to the fire: no man shall spare his brother.” The wrath of darkness and the killing of one’s own family members will be on a world-wide scale in the Second Seal, the Red Horse. Isaiah and Zephaniah clearly state that this is “wrath” from the Lord. Isaiah is also clear in Isaiah 13:6-13, that I previously brought out, the wrath of the day of the Lord is to “punish the world.” Included in Isaiah’s prophecy is, “For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.” Isaiah 13:10 The Second Seal coincides, and concurrently, with the Fourth Angel sounding the Fourth Trumpet in Revelation 8:12, “And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.” Therefore this is conclusive evidence that the 7 Seals and the 7 Trumpets are both a part of the wrath of God, both are a part of the ‘day of the Lord’ and both are in fulfillment of the prophet Zephaniah in Zephaniah 1:14-18 The Second Seal also coincides with the Fifth angel pouring out the Fifth Vial upon the kingdom of the Beast in Revelation 16:10, “And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues with pain.” So, the Second Seal is part of, and runs concurrently of, the ‘vials of the wrath of God upon the earth’ Revelation 16:1 Therefore, the ‘gloominess, a day of clouds, and thick darkness,’ on a world-wide scale is a part of the wrath of God that will take place in the Second Seal, the Fourth Trumpet, and the Fifth Vial. Zephaniah further prophesied, “A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.” This is a clear prophesy of the First Seal, the Second Seal, and one of the Thunder Judgments; not revealed according to Revelation 10:3-4. The sounding of the trumpet as prophesied by Zephaniah is clearly a sound of war; the anti-Christ, by warfare, starts his conquest of the entire world. Revelation 6:1-4 states, “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.” So, the prophesy of Zephaniah, concerning the ‘wrath of God,’ starts at the First Seal in Revelation 6:1 and continues throughout the entire 7 years. According to the Lord Jesus, the wrath of God is so intense that unless God shortened the days, in order to save the ‘elect’ sons the Jacob, the Jewish race, than the entire human race would be destroyed by the end of the Seals, the Trumpets, the Thunders, the Vials, and the woes. “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elects sake those days shall be shortened.” Matthew 24:22 The Lord Jesus plainly stated that all of the prophecies of the prophets, Zephaniah as this lesson’s example, will be fulfilled. “For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.” Luke 21:22 Pastor Anderson Disbelief of the prophecy of Zephaniah, Isaiah & Ezekiel Concerning the first Four Seals, Pastor Anderson is in denial that they have anything to do with the wrath of God. Anderson states, “So that shows that the events of the first four seals are NOT THE WRATH of God. And obviously the fifth seal is not the wrath of God, it's Christians being killed for the cause of Christ, that's not God doing that.”i Anderson is in error. According to the prophet Zephaniah, and by example Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel, the first Five Seals are the wrath of God poured out on the entire world. The saints in Revelation 6 are saints in the Tribulation Period and not saints in the Body of Christ: Christians. Concerning the world-wide destruction within the first 4 Seals in Revelation 6:1-8, Anderson states, “And by the way, I believe that all of these things are man-made, they’re clearly not the wrath of God, and I’ve proved that in other sermons. These are engineered in order to put the antichrist in power because it takes a crisis in order to put a world government like that in power, and the crisis is created with those first four seals.”ii Anderson offers no substantial scriptural proof that the seal judgments are not the wrath of God. The proof that Anderson offers, “in other sermons,” that the Seal Judgments are “man-made” and “engineered in order to put the antichrist is power” are messages against the United States, messages against the Jewish race, and numerous ‘conspiracy theories.’ Conclusion According to the prophet Zephaniah, and the examples of the prophet Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, the 6 Seals, and the other concurrent judgments, are all part of the wrath of God, upon the entire world, as described in the 7-Year Tribulation period. The wrath of God, as prophesied by Zephaniah, is plainly evident in Revelation 6. It is only due to the mercy of God for His chosen people, the sons of Jacob, the Jewish race, that the entire world is not killed. i Anderson, Steven Revelation 6 copied on April 30, 2019 <http://www.faithfulwordbaptist.org/revelation_6.html> ii Anderson, Steven Revelation 12 copied on May 13, 2019 <http://www.faithfulwordbaptist.org/revelation_12.html>

    The Day of the Lord

Concurrently: 1. To agree. 2. To act together. 3. To occur at the same time. Progressively in order, with some intermingling. I do not think the first seal occurs at the time of the first trumpet etc.. I think we need to bear in mind that there are numerous disasters occurring, and intermingling, with the other disasters. For example. Revelation 6:7, the fourth seal, death stalks the world. Revelation 8:9 the second angel sounds and the great mountain falls into the sea and causes a huge amount of loss of life. Revelation 9:18 due to the large army of two hundred thousand, and the other two plagues, over one third of the population of the world dies. Revelation 16:8 the fourth angel, with the fourth vial, causes the sun to scorch men with fire. All the above examples seem to occur concurrently and cause great death, terror, and world-wide destruction. Are all the same? No. Do all produce the same result: death and terror? Yes, so they somewhat agree with the results are taken into consideration. Are they progressive. Yes and no. So, I cannot see how each trumpet, seal, vial, woe, is caused to happen at the same time but the results are the same: death on a world-wide scale, terror, and the wrath of God on all of the earth. So, I think concurrently is the best word to use.

Revelation 1:7, “Godly Sorrow” Revelation 1:7. “Behold, he cometh with clouds and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” The coming of the Lord Jesus in the clouds when every eye shall see Him is a description of the Lord Jesus coming as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS as written in Revelation 19:11-21. The destruction of the nations that come against Jerusalem occurs in Revelation 19:11-21 “And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” Revelation 19:15 “… that with it he should smite the nations: …” is the fulfillment of Zechariah 12:9, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” In verse 17 & 18 we read of the loud voice of the angel for the fowls of the air to eat the slain bodies. The is the fulfillment of Ezekiel 39:1-7, 17-29, Isaiah 34:1-8 and Zechariah 14:1-3. “…KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” The Lord Jesus is coming back to the earth as King. This is in fulfillment of the prophecy of Zechariah 14:9, “And the LORD shall be King over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.” “… and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” Zechariah 12:9-14, “Godly Sorrow” Verse 9-14, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon. And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; The family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart; All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.” The Apostle Paul stated, “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” The Jewish remnant will have the godly sorrow of repentance unto salvation. “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.” Romans 11:26 & 27 While the Lord Jesus was on the cross, this prophecy of the Jews seeing Christ pierced by Zechariah 12:10 was fulfilled. “And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.” John 19:37 What was not fulfilled at the cross of Christ was the rest of Zechariah 12:9-14. The rest of Zechariah 12:9-14 will be fulfilled in Israel after the events of Revelation 19:11-21 Zechariah 12:10 was not fully fulfilled at the cross. “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.” Zechariah 12:11-14 was not fulfilled at the cross, “In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon. And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart, the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart; All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.” Zechariah 13:6, “The Wounds of Christ” Zechariah 13:6, “And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.” The Lord Jesus plainly states that He, “... was wounded in the house of my friends.” After the return of Christ as depicted in Revelation 19:11-21, the remnant of the Jews will see the visible wounds of Christ. The Jews will see the wounds in His hands and the Lord Jesus will say, “Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.” Lost or saved, the Lord Jesus does not consider the Jews His enemies. Lost or saved, the Lord Jesus does not consider the Jew ‘anti-Christ.’ Lost or saved, the Lord Jesus considers the Jews His friends. “And it shall come to pass in that day …” In Zechariah chapter 12 and 13, the phrase, “that day,” occurs eight times in reference to the fulfillment of the prophecies of these chapters; 12:3, 4, 6, 8 and 11; 13:1, 2 and 4 “that day,” is a reference to the end times when God stops the captivity of the nation of Israel from the Gentile nations of the world and restores the Kingdom to Israel forever henceforth. “For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations, and I will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.” Joel 3:1 and 2 Pastor Steven Anderson Among his other heresies in prophecy, Pastor Steven Anderson is a Preterist. Anderson teaches that the prophecies of Zechariah 12:9-14 were fulfilled in the days of Zechariah and Zechariah 12:10 was fulfilled at the cross. In his commentary on Revelation 1:7 Anderson will not even mention Zechariah 12:9-14 nor will he mention Zechariah 13:6. Steven Anderson ignores biblical truth in order to deceive the saints. Like the Preterist, Pastor Anderson believes that the prophecies of Zechariah have already been fulfilled, historic, or is symbolic. As a classic Preterist, Anderson teaches that, as a nation, the Jews will not mourn, nor have godly sorrow, nor repent of their unbelief, nor be saved. Concerning Zechariah 12:3-9, Pastor Anderson states, “The day we are talking about here is the day that Zechariah lives in.”i So, according to Anderson, and almost all Preterists, the events in Zechariah 12:3-9 are ‘historical.’ Anderson stated that Zechariah was just “encouraging” the Jews. “But, when we read in verse 6, “In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited in her own place, even in Jerusalem.” What’s he saying? This is before they are secure in the promised land. Zechariah is preaching and giving them encouragement, and assurance, saying, ‘You are going to be re-established in the promised land. Jerusalem gonna’ [sic] be blessed by God once again and chosen by God once again. And chosen by God once again [sic].’ This already happened, hundreds of years before Jesus walked on the earth it happened. So, don’t try and put this in the New Testament.”ii So, Anderson, like most Preterists, believe that this is also historical and not prophetical. When it comes to prophecy, Pastor Anderson will not recognize that God is going to use the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” commonly called, the “7-Year Tribulation Period,” to bring about the godly repentance of the remnant Jewish nation according to the prophecies of the prophets. “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: …” At the time of mourning of the nation of Israel the prophecy of Jeremiah 31:1-9 will come to pass. “They shall come with weeping and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.” Jeremiah 31:9 “and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.” The prophet Zechariah is clearly referring to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus was pierced in His side while on the Cross of Calvary for the sins of mankind and His wounds will still be visible to the Jews when He returns in Revelation 19:11-21. So, the Jews in that era will also look on the pierced hands of the Lord Jesus. The Apostle John quotes Zechariah 12:10, “And again another scripture saith, they shall look on him whom they pierced.” John 19:37 The prophet Zechariah gives us further information of what would happen when the Lord reveals Himself to the nation of Israel. “And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.” Zechariah 13:6 In Amos 8:8 and 9 we read of the prophecy of the latter half of the Tribulation Period. In Amos 8:10 we read these words, “And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.” The prophecy of Amos in Amos 8:10 is a clear reference to the mourning of the Israel and the appearance of the Lord Jesus as revealed to Zechariah in 12:9-14. A Time of Mourning for the Nation of Israel The prophet Zechariah is very clear in his prophecy. The various tribes of Israel will mourn for their sins, the sins of their fathers, and have a national heart of repentance and godly sorrow. The words of Paul the Apostle will be fulfilled to the nation of Israel when he wrote these words, “For godly sorrow worketh repenteth to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10 i Anderson, Steven Zechariah 12 copied on April 20, 2019 <https://soundcloud.com/bible-preaching/2016-01-27p-zechariah-12> ii Anderson, Steven Zechariah 12 copied on April 20, 2019 <https://soundcloud.com/bible-preaching/2016-01-27p-zechariah-12>

"This is Our Deed to the Land."

The land of Israel is firmly established by a written Covenant, the Bible, to the physical, descendants of Abraham, Issac and Jacob: the Jews. The Israeli Ambassador, the Honourable Danny Danon, explains it very plainly when, after quoting Genesis 17:7 & 8, he said, while holding up the Bible, "This is the deed to our land."

The Jehovah’s Witnesses and the ‘After the Tribulation’ Gathering in Israel The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that “at one time” the Jews were God’s elect, or chosen, people, and that those who (Orthodox Jews or religionists in Christendom), teach that the Jews will be gathered back to the land of Israel are in error. Please take careful note. To the Jehovah's Witnesses, “Christendom” is completely apostate. First. The Jehovah’s Witnesses state at one time (not now), the Jews were God’s chosen people. “Bible prophecy proves beyond a question of doubt that the nation of Israel was at one time God’s chosen people. The Orthodox Jews and many religionists of “Christendom” believe that Bible prophecy foretells that the Jews will be regathered once more into their “Holy Land of Palestine.” They claim that that time is now here and that their effort in that direction is in fulfillment of these prophecies.”i Second. The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the gathering of the Jews in fulfillment of Jeremiah 32:37 occurred after the Babylonian Captivity. This is a partial truth. They ignore Jeremiah 23:5-8 that clearly prophesy of a more permanent, complete, and different, gathering And, they believe, that the ‘Israel of God,’ or, ‘Jews inwardly,’ or, ‘spiritual Israelites’ have now become the ‘gathered’ people. “They [ apostate Christendom ] do not realize that the first or miniature fulfillment of that promise [ Jeremiah 32:37 ] applied to the Jewish remnant that returned from Babylon in 537 B.C. and that the major or complete fulfillment applied to the “Israel of God” made up of ‘Jews inwardly’ or spiritual Israelites who come out from captivity to this Babylonish world. ( Galatians 6:16 ) From and after A.D. 1919 these have been gathered into the earthly condition of Jehovah God’s favor as his witnesses and as ambassadors of his kingdom established in the hands of the Messiah.”ii Third. The Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in the future restoration, or gathering, of the Jews in fulfillment to scripture. “If more Jews are in the future gathered to Palestine, it will only be a political, humanitarian gesture, and not of God’s provision according to prophecy. God’s promises concerning restoration are being fulfilled upon his spiritual Israelites, Jehovah’s witnesses, who are the remnant of faithful followers of His Messiah.”iii Fourth. The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that it is a false hope in the mass conversion and regathering of the Jews to Israel. “The facts and prophecies prove that the natural Jews will never again be a chosen, regathered people. They have as a people flagrantly rejected the Messiah, his truth and his kingdom. It is a false hope that they must be regathered to Palestine and be converted in mass to Jesus Christ prior to his second coming and as a sign of the early establishment of his kingdom.”iv Please take careful note. The Jehovah’s Witnesses are careful to say, “Palestine,” and not the nation of Israel, or the land of the Jews, or Israel. Also, like Philip Mauro, Pastor Steven Anderson, and many other false teachers who teach Replacement theology, use terms, in a derogatory and sarcastic, manner, such as, ‘natural Jews’ or ‘Israel after the flesh,’ in an effort to discredit, humiliate, and to try to demean the sons of Jacob. The Jehovah’s Witnesses misuse Jeremiah 32:37 and Romans 11:1-2. They ignore Jeremiah 23:5-8, and dis-believe the prophecies of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and the prophecy of the Lord Jesus in Matthew 24:31 Conclusion. The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the events, ‘after the tribulation,’ that occur as written in Matthew 24:29-31, in their own way, are symbolic, or spiritual, in nature. They teach that there is no restoration of the Jews in the land of Israel and no mass conversion as a nation ‘after the tribulation.’ Basically, the beliefs of the Jehovah’s Witnesses concerning Matthew 24:29-31 are similar, not exactly alike, to the beliefs of Preterism and Steven Anderson. i Let God Be True, Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, (Brooklyn: NY), 1946, Page 198. ii Let God Be True, Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, (Brooklyn: NY), 1946, Page 205-206. iii Let God Be True, Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, (Brooklyn: NY), 1946, Page 207-208. iv Let God Be True, Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, (Brooklyn: NY), 1946, Page 208-209.

Matthew 24:29-31, After the tribulation 'they shall gather his elect.' Matthew 24:29, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.” “… after the tribulation ...” these events will take place. Matthew 24:30, “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” Revelation 1:7, “Behold, he cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindred's of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” Revelation 1:7 is the fulfillment of the prophecy by the prophet Zechariah. Zechariah 12:9-14, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart; All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.” Matthew 24:31 “And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” “...with a great sound of a trumpet ...” In Numbers 10:1-10 God commanded Moses to have two trumpets of silver made for eight (8) reasons: “For the calling of the assembly.” “For the journeying of the camps.” “For the princes to assemble at the tabernacle.” “For an alarm.” “For days of gladness.” “For the solemn days.” “For the beginning of the months.” “For the sacrifice of the peace offerings.” Two of the specific reasons was for the “calling of the assemblies and journeying of the camp.” Numbers 1:1 & 2, “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them, for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.” The context of the passage will tell us the reason for the blowing of the trumpet and who blows the trumpet. So, the trumpet in Matthew 24:31 was to call together, by angels, the Jews, the elect, from around the world to assemble the congregation in Israel. The 7 angels in Revelation 8:2 are given 7 trumpets to sound an alarm for war and for judgment and not for calling an assembly for any reason. Therefore, the angels sounding trumpets in Matthew 24:31 are not connected to the 7 angels given 7 trumpets in Revelation 8:2 The root word of elect is to choose. Concerning the house of Israel being the elect, the Apostle Paul clearly states in Romans 11 that God has not cast away His people, His elect, His chosen, the Jews, and that, in every age, there is a remnant of the chosen Jews. Romans 11:1, “I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin… Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” Therefore, the “elect' in Matthew 24:31 is the saved remnant of the house of Israel. The prophet Isaiah also prophesied the gathering of the Jews from the various nations of the world. “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.” Isaiah 11:11 & 12 The prophet Ezekiel also prophesied of the gathering of the Jews from the various nations of the world. Ezekiel 28:24-26, “And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them: and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD. Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob. And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.” The Lord Jesus prophesied, “And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:31 The words of the Lord Jesus prophesying the gathering of the “elect,” or, as Jeremiah states, “the house of Israel,” or as Isaiah states, “the outcasts of Israel,” is in fulfillment of Jeremiah 23:7 & 8, Isaiah 11:11 & 12, and Ezekiel 28:24-26 God said, “For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.” Deuteronomy 7:6-9 God, because of His mercy and His faithfulness, God will keep this, and all of the other, “oaths,” promises, and covenants that He made to the Jewish race. Every word, of every oath, promise, covenant, and prophecy given to the Jewish race will be fulfilled. The Lord Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 24:35 The Lord Jesus said, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:17-18 The oaths, promises, covenants, and prophecies given by the Old Testament prophets, are literal and every word, every letter (or tittle), will be fulfilled as written to whom the prophecy was written to. In the context of Jeremiah 23:7-8, Isaiah 11:11-12, Matthew 23:37-39, and Matthew 24:31, the meaning of the word “gathering” is to bring the Jews, the elect, in a gradual process, from the four winds of the earth, from every nation, as Moses gathered the house of Israel together in Egypt, as a hen gathers her chicks, and the shepherd gathers his flocks, back to the nation of Israel. Therefore, the “elect” that the Lord Jesus refers to in Matthew 24:31 is the the saved remnant of the house of Israel that is gathered from the entire world and returned to the land of Israel during the 7 Year Tribulation period. Conclusion Therefore, in Matthew 24:29-31 we read of the gathering of the Jewish remnant from the nations of the world “after the tribulation.” This gathering is in fulfillment of the prophecies of the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea and Zechariah.

The Mourning of the Nation of Israel Revelation 1:7, “Behold, he cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindred's of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” Revelation 1:7 is the fulfillment of the prophecy by the prophet Zechariah. Zechariah 12:9-14, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart; All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.” “… after the tribulation ...” the gathered remnant of the Jews, according to the prophet Zechariah will “mourn” as a nation. The prophet Zechariah goes into detail and lists the various houses, tribes, and the families of those houses and tribes that will mourn. These details are observable, literal, tangible, and are clearly of the restored nation of Israel. The Unbelief of Zechariah 12:9-14 and Matthew 24:30 by the Preterists In his comments on Acts 2:37 Philip Mauro states that that this is the “mourning” of the individuals at the day of Pentecost after Peter’s sermon. Mauro also states that the listing of the families by Zechariah is not literal as Zechariah states but “signifies” repentance. So, Mauro teaches that Zechariah 12:9-14 was fulfilled at the day of Pentecost and there will be no future fulfillment. Mauro states, “Moreover they also mourned for him, as the prophecy foretold. For it is recorded that “they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do? That was indeed “a great mourning in Jerusalem”; for it resulted in the conversion of “about three thousand souls.” It should be observed further that, according to the prophecy, every family was to mourn apart, and their wives apart. Which signifies that “repentance unto life” and the “godly sorrow” that leads to it, were to be a personal and individual, and not a national affair, as the Jewish rabbis taught (and as some Christian teachers wrongly teach today).” Mauro, Philip, The Hope of Israel: What Is it? (Boston, MA: Hamilton Brothers,1929), p.100 When the apostle Peter preached at the day of Pentecost there was a great result of 3,000 people being saved. Please take careful note that Peter does not state that the results were a fulfillment of Zechariah 12:9-14 Philip Mauro is wrong in his interpretation of Zechariah12:9-14, Matthew 24:30 and Acts 2:36. The Lord Jesus prophesied “after the tribulation” there will be a gathering of the ‘elect,’ the nation of Israel, and they will ‘mourn’ exactly as the prophet Zechariah prophesied. Also, in an effort to malign those Bible teachers who believe in a national mourning, and salvation experience of the Jews ‘after the tribulation,’ Mauro states, “as the Jewish rabbis taught (and as some Christian teachers wrongly teach today).” Philip Mauro is the false teacher. The prophet Zechariah taught that there will be a national mourning for the children of Israel. The Lord Jesus plainly prophesied that this will be fulfilled ‘after the tribulation.’ Philip Mauro does not believe that the prophecy of Zechariah will be fulfilled ‘after the tribulation’ as the Lord Jesus prophesied.

    Revelation Bible Study.

Isaiah 4:1-6, “The Mercy of God upon the Escaped of Israel” Isaiah 4:1-6, “And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach. In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence. And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.” Verse 1, “And in that day ...” and verse 2, “And in that day ...” All of the events in Isaiah 4:1-6 will occur “In the day.” “In that day” is a direct reference to the time when God fulfills the prophecies of restoring the nation of Israel during the millennial reign of Christ as spoken of in Revelation 20:4-6 None of the events of Isaiah 4:1-6 have been fulfilled in the land of Israel, nor in the church age, nor in a spiritual manner, nor in a symbolic manner, nor metaphorically, since Isaiah penned this prophecy. Erroneous Teaching Concerning the Scriptural Phrase ‘In that day’ Philip Mauro, as with most preterists, and other individuals who spiritualize, or believe that the promises and prophecies given to the sons of Jacob are given to the church or all allegorical, states, “In That Day [chapter heading]. The question that concerns us for the moment is this: Are these passages to be understood as predictions of the national conversion of the Jews in a coming “day,” as some now teach? Or are they prophecies of the gospel, having their fulfillment in this present “day,” which has always held (as I understand it) until recent times? In the first place, we call attention to the fact that the context makes it clear that the oft-recurring phrase, “in that day,” refers to this present day of grace, and not to the succeeding day of judgment.”i So, Mauro presents the preterist, and allegorical, position perfectly. The phrase by Isaiah (and the other Old Testament prophets), ‘In that day’ is merely a reference to the ‘gospel,’ in the present age of grace, and not to a national restoration, by a conversion experience, of the remnant Jews in the latter times. By way of reference. In the pages of his book, when Mauro states, “as some now teach,” he is referring to evangelist John R. Rice, fundamentalists, and the Scofield Reference Bible. Also, when Mauro states, “until recent times” he is referring to the Scofield Reference Bible. Mauro ignores earlier writers, which includes Ephrem the Syrian, c. 306, in order to convince the reader that the restoration of Israel is a recent doctrine. Philip Mauro was not only erroneous in his interpretation of the phrase “In that day” but he slandered godly brethren who were correct in their interpretation. Mauro was also trying to negate the truth by stating it was a recent doctrine. Mauro was a false teacher and a deceiver. “And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.” During the wrath of God poured out on the entire earth during the “Time of Jacob’s Trouble,” or more commonly known as, “The 7-year Tribulation Period,” the population of the earth, primarily men, is dramatically reduced. The Lord Jesus prophetically stated, Matthew 24:21 and 22, “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” The population of males within the nation of Israel will be such a low number in comparison to the female population that Isaiah further prophesied, “I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.” Isaiah 13:12 Since the day that Isaiah prophesied that, “seven women shall take hold of one man,” to this day, this prophecy has not been fulfilled. Furthermore, this prophecy cannot be in any manner be construed to be allegorical, a symbol, or given as a promise to those in the church age. “In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious ...” The ‘branch of the LORD’ is the Lord Jesus on the earth as Judge and King. Isaiah 11:1 and Zechariah 3:8 and his reign will be ‘glorious.’ “… and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely ...” Since the day Isaiah penned these words, the land of the nation of Israel is still mostly desert and, since the rainfall is not enough to provide water for crops and man, the Jews have to use seawater for crops. Therefore, the land is not as fruitful as it should be. Furthermore, in order to produce the abundance of fruit, the geographical nature of Israel, the amount of rainfall, and watercourses, will have to be changed dramatically. Therefore, when this prophecy is fulfilled, the result will be physically verifiable, observable, literal, and geographical. The prophet Isaiah is not being allegorical, spiritual, or metaphysical in any manner. “… for them that are escaped of Israel.” The world-wide holocaust of the Jews during the 7-Year Tribulation period will be intense, acute, bitter, and those that survive will be considered as ‘escaped’ from physical death. This is the meaning of the words of the Lord Jesus when He stated, “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Mark 13:13 Isaiah further prophesied of the escaping of a remnant of the Jews during the 7-Year Tribulation Period in Isaiah 10:20-22 and 17:6-8 “And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.” After the first 3 ½ years of the 7-Year Tribulation, the Jews will realize that they have been terribly deceived by the anti-Christ and will begin the spiritual journey of salvation through the mercy of the Lord Jesus as the Messiah. God will have mercy on the remnant of Jews that escape the holocaust of the 7-Year Tribulation. Isaiah prophesied of the mercy of God upon the remnant that escapes the holocaust of the 7-Year Tribulation Period. Isaiah 14:1, “For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.” The Apostle Paul prophesied of the time when the sins of the house of Jacob would be purged. Romans 11:26 & 27, “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.” i Mauro, Philip, The Hope of Israel: What Is it? (Boston, MA: Hamilton Brothers,1929), 98 The Apostle Paul further prophesied that the mercy of God would be upon the Jews. Romans 11:30-32, “For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.” The filth of the daughters of Zion is a description of their moral failures, haughtiness, pride, unbelief, and the numerous other degenerate characteristics of the daughters of Zion. The purging of the sins of the blood of Jerusalem, a reference to the persecution of the godly men and women, and the prophets of Israel, will one day be purged. The purging of the sins of anyone, the filth in our souls, whether Jew or Gentile, happens every time when a person repents of their sins, and unbelief, and is converted to Christ as Saviour. A person is considered ‘holy’ when he is converted and made righteous in the sight of God. The purging of the filth, unbelief, hatred, persecution, and many other sins of the nation of Israel throughout their long period of unbelief, will take place when the Lord Jesus returns as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS and judges as revealed in Revelation 20:4, “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” “… in Jerusalem ...” and, “... of Jerusalem ...” The prophet Isaiah is very clear, twice, he mentioned Jerusalem as the location of the inhabitants being ‘holy.’ The prophet Isaiah cannot be referring to the “Holy Jerusalem” as mentioned in Revelation 21:9-27 nor can be be referring to the city Jerusalem since he wrote his prophecy as it is described in Revelation 11:8 as ‘Sodom’ and ‘Egypt.’ Therefore, the cleansing of the filth of the Jews will occur when the Lord Jesus is reigning as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS then the inhabitants are ‘holy.’ “And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence. And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.” After the judgment as spoken by the Apostle John in Revelation 20:4, the LORD God in heaven will once again come down upon the nation of Israel as He did before, for glory and defence, as in Exodus 13:20-21; 14:19-31, Numbers 9:15-23 and 10:33-36 The ‘assemblies’ would include, but not be limited to, the re-built Temple as described by Ezekiel in Ezekiel chapter 40-48 All of the prophecy of Isaiah will be literal, observable, verifiable, when it is fulfilled. Steven Anderson – a Preterist at heart In his teaching on Isaiah 6:1-4, Pastor Steven Anderson ignores any prophetical prophecies concerning Israel in this entire passage. Anderson follows the preterist teaching and applies the prophecies in this passage to the church. Concerning verse 5, Anderson states, “Now what does that mean ‘every dwelling place?’ Well, that is talking about your house. Right? What do you think what is ‘assemblies?’ Churches. Ok.” Also, he states, “Now what is this talking about in verse five? ‘And the LORD shall create every dwelling place? That is every home, and, he is saying, ‘upon her assemblies a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.’ What does that represent? And God is saying that God’s presence and God’s blessing should be upon every house and upon every church.”i Like every other preterist, Anderson cannot ‘rightly divide the word of truth.’ Anderson, like every other preterist, attempts to take away the prophecies given to the Jews and incorrectly state that they are for the church. In conclusion, the prophet Isaiah is prophesying of the time when the remnant of the house of Jacob, the Jews, that escape the holocaust of the 7 year Tribulation, fully believe in the mercy of God through the Lord Jesus as Christ, or Messiah. Afterwards, as Isaiah prophesied, God will wash away their sins of their unbelieving heart and the glories of the Millennial reign of Christ will occur. i Anderson, Steven Isaiah 4:1-6 copied on March 25, 2019 <https://soundcloud.com/bible-preaching/2008-04-30p-isaiah-4>
