  1. Not many IFB churches officially identify as such - most just call themselves independent Baptist. It is the clear reliance on the Bible, and the intent to follow the Bible in all things that separates a poor church from a fundamental Baptist church.

  2. Praying that God will lead, guide and direct you to the church He would have you join. When you find one, unless you know it immediately, take a few weeks to visit and watch and listen. Meet with the pastor . . . though he'll likely initiate a meeting himself. You'll do best by attending all services and hopefully establish that as a pattern. Certainly, visit with his wife for she likely have much wisdom to share. Also praying that your husband will get right with the Lord and find a place where he can grow in the Lord.

  3. Men fall. I hope he finds the help he needs to be restored in his walk with the Lord, though I would not advocate for his return to any pulpit. I am not certain I understand why he is controversial. I did a search and saw that he took a stand against sodomites. That does not make him controversial in my mind, just naming sin. Under the circumstances--though it by no means excuses him--he looks like it could have been a setup. My prayer is that God will save his marriage and his family.
