It took a lot of courage and conviction for Bro. Stacey to go public with this information. Now it remains to be seen what will come of this sad situation. As Independent Baptists this situation needs to be dealt with in a responsible Scriptural manner. The institutions involved need to step up to the plate and do the right thing. This is especially needful in light of their standing among Independent Baptists as leaders among IFB churches and members nationwide. My heart and prayers go out to Bro. Stacey for taking the stand that he took and reinforcing the integrity of Biblical precepts.

    Re-introducing myself

Hello everyone. I feel the need to re-introduce myself since I have not been around for the last 2 years. As you might imagine, a lot has changed but the biggest change would be I got married to an unbelievable woman! I was celibate for 19 years out of personal conviction because of a divorce, but with the death of my previous spouse I was released from my bonds. I met Miss. Laurel Carpenter who is a widow of Pastor Alan Carpenter. See had been a widow for 3 years. We were wed on June 24, 2016 so we are approaching our 2nd anniversary. I still live in Roseburg, OR and attend the same church I have been attending for 16 years now. I have 5 children (2 with the Lord) and now 6 grandchildren! Laurel has 2 children (both adopted) and 5 grandchildren. Laurel has been a Christian School Teacher/Administrator for 36 years now. BA in Christian Education from Bob Jones University and then a Masters in Education for Southern Alabama University. I went to Bible college at Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College (now Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, OK) but only for 2 years from 1980 - 1982. My salvation testimony should still be on this site someplace unless you have deleted posts that are several years old. I am staunchly KJV bible only and live a life of biblical separation from the world in all areas of my life, to include dress, music, speech and abstaining from even the appearance of evil. I am glad to still see familiar names here! 2bLikeJesus In His will. By His power. For His glory.

Well, let's see. We have a country where it's been fashionable to "come out of the closet" and proudly proclaim that you're "gay" for a few decades now. But just 5 decades ago, when I was learning to read, Janet, Mark and Spot had a "gay" old time and it meant they were "happy". Now, Girls are going out, hunting bears with bows and arrows, fighting in combat and boys are now dainty little sissies. We DISHONOUR and emasculate our men, deeming them worthless buffoons, take away the things associated with manhood and give them to the women. How did we get here? Little baby steps. For one thing, we gave them our clothes. Women began dressing like men a loooong time ago and now the men have relented, we have little left. Bruce Jenner, the once mighty athlete is now "Kaitlin Jenner" wearing a dress.. Y'all do what you want, as for me and my house, my wife and daughter wear dresses and and are not the least bit interested in deer hunting.

Pastor Shiflett took the video down. Here is what he tweeted.

We had this happen just recently. An otherwise very good Pastor that I would consider IFB in every other way has fallen into the error that the "church" has replaced the "jewish nation" and all the promises given to the Jews for all eternity have now been stripped from the Jews and given instead to the church. I simply pointed out to the pastor that while most in his congregation are rock solid on the correct doctrine concerning this, we have many "baby Christians" and new members who may be confused and within 2 weeks we had a very thorough message solidifying the correct doctrine. I recommend going to your Pastor.

    Whats for Supper...

Now that might be an acceptable compromise.

If I'm not mistaken, the reason I joined this board was to ask advice about a related situation. My "IFB" pastor was practically reading off online sermons by one John Piper. And even if he wasn't an unabashed "7 point" Calvinist(which made it 10 times worse), I prefer a message by a man who got his message straight out of a King James Bible and preaches full of the Holy Ghost. Oh yes, and I would rather hear one expound on quotes from Jesus. Spurgeon was nowhere around the day I got saved.

I have gotten to know Cameron Giovanellit the last couple of years, and It saddens me to hear this. If found to be true, I hope the proper action is taken. Pray for the young lady(s) as they seem to be the forgotten ones in stories like this. I have no sympathy for adults who take advantage of young boys and girls. As a pastor, I understand the importance of our church keeping their eyes on Jesus and not on me or any other preacher. I normally do not like starting topics like this because they sicken me, but I'm not going to sit back and act like its not going on. BTW: @HappyChristian You remember Denny Patterson? He was in college the same year that my wife and I were.

This video is a little over 18 minutes long. It's sad. But I think, in light of what this thread is about, folks should listen to it.

    Hunting yummy things

Pretty neat. I miss my Remington 700 BDL in .30-06. My shoulder doesn't though! Someday I might like another in .243 Winchester or 6mm Remington. Or maybe .257 Roberts. I'm more partial to muzzleloaders now, especially the double barrel shotguns and cap and ball pistols.

What would be right is to address the allegations and if needed apologize.

The truth to the lie.... Bruce Jenner

Bruce Jenner - you know the one - that guy who made huge headlines because he reckons he is not - is now set to get married. Now wait for it - this guy who says he is a girl wants to get married...... to a 21 year old girl. So now the guy who says he is a girl turns out to like girls enough to want to marry (another) one. Shows the lie about where his head is - he really does know what he is, he just doesn't want to accept it. If what he says about himself was true he would be "marrying" a guy not a girl. Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; And the rest of the passage of course...... Oh the affect of sin on this wretched world. This man needs to be saved. By the way the link is here if you really want to read it - I confess that I haven't - the headline was enough for me. So be very careful about the link - I don't actually know what sort of detail is in it. (It is a "reputable" news site so shouldn't be "Computer dangerous"). Note: I don't want to offend people, and I have therefore added his name in the title so that people know before they enter roughly what the subject is. I am sorry if the subject offends you - it offends me too, but I wanted to point this one thing out.

I have no problem quoting other preachers if it is an accurate/good statement....but in no way can I even compare it to quoting Scripture. One is inspired.

Spurgeon isn't my pastor. Henry isn't my pastor. Ironside isn't my pastor, Cloud isn't my pastor...nor is any other well-known "expositor" of scripture. Seek their counsel if you will, but I will abide by those of whom the Bible places above me for teaching along with my own study. While I may consult the occasional "expositor", I consult with grave caution, because though many well-known "expositors" may have something good to say, they also have bad things to say. I don't claim that I'm right...so make of it what you will. ...and if Spurgeon saw no problem with Henry's commentaries, then that's just another strike against Spurgeon in my book. :)

If it is minor, I would probably let it slide. If it is major, I'd probably talk to the pastor. If it is monumental, I'd probably stand up in the middle of the sermon and walk out in complete disagreement. Monumental error is if the preacher says Jesus Christ is not God.

For those who remember Jerry #’s, I have a source that recently told me he went home with the Lord in April 2016. My source had no info on John81.
