  1. I try to see it, but it sounds so confusing to see what you and others see in these verses. I have been a believer in Jesus Christ since 1987, and have read the Bible over 20 times through and I have never seen some of the 'teachings' people put on this forum. If God is not the author of confusion, like we all believe, how can things like the differences between us, like this subject, exist? (That might make another good thread I guess.) When we discuss this subject, and I accept it as discussion, (even though we 'argue' somewhat.), I see so much misalignment of scriptures, that I just wan

AVBB you've missed a few Scriptures - Luke - the message to the shepherds, the prayer of Simeon, Jesus' ministry at Nazareth, his commission to the Apostles, John - the conversation at the well, the message to the Greeks who wanted to see Jesus, Acts - Jesus' reply when the Apostles asked about the kingdom.... The truth is that Messiah had to come through Abraham .... David to fulfil prophecy, and minister to the people of Israel, in order to accomplish salvation for ALL nations as promised to Abraham. Salvation was never exclusive to Israel, many Gentiles were numbered with Israel w

Regardless of your perceived "direct revelation" (that's something I typically only hear from Charismatics and a few Pentecostals), it's the small handful of wrongly dividing dispensationalists who insist on separating the Word of God, warping its meaning and bringing confusion and chaos into the mix that are out of line with the Word of God.

  4. Our people once set high standards but now we seek the lowest common denominator in order to make everyone "feel" equal and make everyone as alike as possible. Over half of Americans receive some form of government "welfare". If we count what is known as "corporate welfare" that percentage rises dramatically. With no one expecting high standards the masses OBlige and sink to dismal standards in nearly every category. We have high school graduates who can barely read at a pre-school level, women (and even girls) who see nothing wrong in using their sexuality to get what they want, to manipu

Larry Michael Berkley, who has pastored churches in Arkansas and Tennessee, is accused of providing children with alcohol, drugs and porn, and then sexually assaulting them while he was a pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church in Harrison, Arkansas, WREG Memphis reports. Berkley, 34, was arrested at a cemetery in Covington, Tennessee, Monday afternoon after finishing a funeral service. Police in Harrison say the investigat

Sure it's psychology (though I don't like that word), and we all use psychology to an extent. Suppose someone has just had something terrible happen in their life...we say, "I understand", or "It'll be alright." When in fact, we often don't truly understand, and we don't know if it will truly be alright (humanly speaking). However, we're using psychology to try to help that person and encourage them. I was saved in a small

Buchanan Friday - May 9, 2014 The GOP Beltway establishment is celebrating the victory of Thom Tillis, Speaker of the North Carolina House, over his Tea Party and Evangelical rivals in Tuesday's primary for the U.S. Senate. But the story ended less happily for the Beltway elite in the Tar Heel State's 3rd Congressional District. There, the planned purge of Rep. Walter Jones was repulsed by his loyal Republican base. Yet, this massively funded effort, to kill the career of a 20-year House veteran, whose father held the seat for de

The explanation is a little weak (to me anyway) but the editor (Sheldon Smith) did make a clear statement he/Sword believe salvation is an individual matter. Even though they received many letters and calls regarding the original article/sermon due to the clear presentation therein that if one member of a family gets saved Scripture either guarantees or virtually guarantees the family will be saved too; especially if the saved one prays for them; Smith

You can pay her way for about $4400 a year (I remember seeing that on a sign and brochure last month while there). http://www.pcci.edu/FinancialInfo/BasicCost.html http://www.pcci.edu/FinancialInfo/Default.html Or she can pay her own way and leave debt free in 5 years. This is the path that my daughter is taking. That's about 1/2 of the now liberal BOB Jones college and many tens of thousands less than those poor saps pay to send their kids off to be turned into liberal rOBots at a secular school.

  35. Except that teaching seems to suggest a current situation, (the husband of one wife) not a past/present situation, (has had more than one wife, or has been divorced). It could very easily be interpreted either way, depending upon your view. Your way of seeing it says that even though Jesus gave an acceptable, (not ideal), reason for divorce, and Paul gave another, they would still disqualify you from some service, meaning forgiveness but with strings. Multiple spouses in the middle east was still done at the time of the writing of the Bible, and still is in come cultures. In this case,

    Jail ministry

I just mean that most times the fruit of the jail ministry doesn´t see its fullness in the church house on Sundays. Many say it´s a waste of time because the "saved convicts" never come to church. But not all ministry should find it´s fulfillment in the local church. You will mature, grow and bear fruit there, and you take that experience into life everywhere you go. That´s all I´m saying. Street preaching is the same. After preaching on streets in downtown for over 10 years, I can´t recall one person who ever came to our church. But I do know that many were saved, the gospel was plante

  38. Our standard of "bestness" was the result of Christian influence out of proportion to numbers. We accepted as good for all a moral society that cared. The immoral underclass was restrained by Law. In the UK parliament has systematically repealed laws based on God's commandments and Christian ethics. We will not be replaced by a society that accepts the standards we once upheld, but by a society that overwhelms us by ruthless rejection of all Biblical morality. It's called "tribulation" - see 2 Thes 1. The believers will be vindicated when Jesus returns, while the godless will suffer

  43. Isn't the Great Commission to make disciples, baptize and teach them? Can't a small church do that the same as a large church? It may not be to the same extent as a larger church, but it is fulfilling its commission all the same. If the church is God's then He grows it - or not. Man may try to artificially grow it, or artificially keep it small, and such is disOBedience, but if God wants a church to be small then it is no shame or disOBedience for it to be so. Would we shame a mother to whom God has given only two children to raise for Him, when her neighbor has been given nine?

When a father of a household gets saved, he becomes a 'new creature' and his life begins to transform, the change can be so drastic that he will become the leader in that home.,,,no matter what modern culture is. Likewise If the mom gets saved first, she can take the lead by giving godly submission to her husband. If your home life is transformed from one of sin, strife and turmoil into one of peace and joy, it can influence the rest of the fam

    Family Salvation

Are we confusing two separate thoughts here? The Bible is plain that every man will stand before God and make an account for himself. Even those who believe in different forms of salvation in general would agree that no man can do anything to make another saved. But in certain cultures, particularly those which are heavily tribal, the average person would not dare to defy their chief or elder. This means that it very very difficult to reach these groups. However, if the chief gets saved, then the tribe becomes "available" for salvation. But it does not mean that everyone in the tribe
