Back over a week ago I wrote to my Senators concerning Professor Sunstein's positions concerning some of his former comments concerning our right to bear arms for hunting, self-defense and how he believes animals should have the same legal rights as humans. This is Sen. Lieberman's response. They believe this guy can just change his story, tell them he's just fine with it all now and then put him in as a Czar. I personally believe most of them (Dems. and Repubs.) will lie about their positions when confronted with the past statements just to get into their position of power.

Dear Mr. Smith:

Thank you for contacting me to express your views regarding President Obama's nomination of Cass Sunstein to serve as the Administrator for the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

In accordance with the U.S. Constitution, every President has the task of selecting qualified, intelligent, and hardworking Americans to fill Cabinet posts and offices within the executive branch. As President Obama has taken office during especially challenging times, the task of appointing the most capable individuals has never been more vital to the strength and future of our country. The confirmation process provides the Senate an opportunity to evaluate each of the President's nominees.

In Professor Sunstein, the President has found someone with exceptional qualifications and extraordinary talent, fully capable of leading OIRA in a positive direction to support the Administration's efforts and fulfill Congress' intentions. With degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Law School, he taught at both the University of Chicago Law School and Harvard Law School, as well as working for the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel. When hired by Harvard Law School, then-Dean Elena Kagan, called him "the preeminent legal scholar of our time - the most wide-ranging, the most prolific, the most cited, and the most influential."

Professor Sunstein has responded succinctly to all specific concerns of his nomination during his confirmation hearings. On gun rights, Professor Sunstein has said he believes in the Second Amendment and the individual's right to possess guns for hunting and self-defense. On his previous writings and comments on animal cruelty, Professor Sunstein has said he would take no steps to promote litigation on behalf of animals and has no plans to regulate animal husbandry.

On September 10, 2009, the Senate confirmed Professor Sunstein as the Administrator of OIRA by a vote of 57-40. As Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which has jurisdiction over this nomination, I thoroughly reviewed Professor Sunstein's background, opinions, and publications and voted for his confirmation. After meeting with Professor Sunstein, listening to him at our hearing, and seeing how he has responded thoroughly and forthrightly to those who have approached him with their concerns, I am convinced that he has superior qualifications and a strong commitment to guide OIRA in conformity with the law to meet the many challenges our nation now faces.

If you wish to view his confirmation hearing, I invite you to visit the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee website at http://hsgac.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Hearings.Hearing&Hearing_ID=bd4574c9-9ca1-4f5c-9f0e-3618ee203a20.

Thank you again for sharing your views and concerns with me. I hope you will continue to visit my website at http://lieberman.senate.gov for updated news about my work on behalf of Connecticut and the nation. Please contact me if you have any additional questions or comments about our work in Congress.

For many years politicians have been lying to the voters in order to gain a elected office, and we all know anyone appointed to an office by our president will lie to our congressmen in order to get confirmed.

Its become the America way, haven't all of us have come to expect that?

Just think how much better shape America would be in today if all of our elected officials kept their campaign promises and never went down the trail of corruption. My expectations is that it will wax much worse in the next few years. In effect that would line right up with what God promises us in His Holy Word.
