Members JerryNumbers
Watermelons & sunflowers, but it sure isn't my electric bill while I'm trying to stay cool. My youngest grandson tried planting some watermelon seeds after having seen mine last year, didn't work out. Today I gave him 2 plants that I had started, he is thrilled. Hope he gets a watermelon. Members JerryNumbers
I can't understand what anyone loves about the sound of cicadas. Long days are wonderful, but our days are already growing shorter. Seems impossible that the year 2009 is already half over. With each new year I'm reminded of what my grandmother told me when I was still quite young, when you get old the time will seem to fly by. She was much wiser than I gave her credit, and I was much dumber than I though.
Members John81
To me, cicadas sound like home and I find them soothing, relaxing and comforting. I know many people find them to be nothing but noisy and annoying. No doubt, the older I get the faster time goes by. I look around and it seems it can't be July already and if I really think about it I'm wondering how it can be 2009 already! This actually came up in Sunday school yesterday when we were discussing 2nd Peter and how the Lord is giving us time to come to him. Younger folks seem to be very impatient, wanting everything now, having little respect for their elders, and time for them seems so much different than older folks who see time flying by. Members elijahruth
Digging in the dirt with my bare hands. Watching my children play in the lake, climb trees and hunt for crawdads and worms. Baby birds, chicks. Natures sounds. The sun shining through the leaves on the trees. Watching things grow in a garden and anticipating the fall harvest. Fireflies. Cicadas. Summer storms, being reminded of the power of God. Stargazing on warm nights. Cutting firewood for winter. Building things. Collecting berries and wildflowers and leaves to eat and press. Most importantly, seeing God's glory all around me and waiting for His eminant return.
Members Invicta
Cherries Asparagus, although the local asparagus is about over. Blackbirds singing. Lavender fields. Or field, actually, I know of only one and that's about 60 miles from here. Second thoughts there is a smaller one near it, a sort of community affair.
