Relatively firm mattress, with a soft, cushy pillow-top. :lol:

Coverings for those long, cold winter nights:::

Quilts and comforters, on top of one flannel cover-sheet

--or--

Lots and lots of covers on top of the flannel sheet.

That is preferable. I find that the more layers I have, the hotter I get during the night. I can't stand to wake up sweaty. Eeeeewwwwww!!

Nights get cold up here in the North country. I keep the temp. in the night bedroom at about 45 to 50 degrees, depending on the temp outside.

firm pillow for lots of support.

The bed::::

Four tall posters complete with canopy, curtains and ruffles around the top valence.

--or--

Standard bed frame with no frills, except headboard.

I don't want to be a "piggy", but I want two cooktops. One against the wall and one in an island
Pots and pans:::

Hanging over the island work area or cooktop on hooks on a polished copper ring suspended from the ceiling.

--or--

In the cupboards out of sight.

Glass (Ceran) cook top or removable electric element burners?
[/quote]

Definitely Ceran, and that was definitely one of the things that made our present home so appealing to us.

The exhaust fan for the cooktop -- updraught or downdraught?
