Wow, I could post a different favorite hymn every day!
How about this one:

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

"Great is Thy faithfulness," O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Chorus:
"Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!"
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
"Great is Thy faithfulness,"
Lord unto me!

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness,
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Chorus

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.

Chorus

I have had a wonderful hymn stuck in my mind for a week. The words are so wonderful and true, and what a blessing I get when the realization hits me that "Christ Liveth in Me."

"Christ Liveth in Me"
by Daniel W. Whittle, 1840-1901

Once far from God and dead in sin, no light my heart could see
But in God's Word the light I found-Now Christ liveth in me!

Christ liveth in me, Christ liveth in me
O what a salvation this, that Christ liveth in me!

As rays of light from yonder sun, the flowers of earth set free
So life and light and love came forth from Christ living in me.

Christ liveth in me, Christ liveth in me
O what a salvation this, that Christ liveth in me!

As lives the flowers within the seed, As in the cone the tree
So praise the God of truth and grace, His Spirit dwelleth in me.

Christ liveth in me, Christ liveth in me
O what a salvation this, that Christ liveth in me!

With longing all my heart is filled, that like Him I may be,
As on the wondrous thought I dwell, that Christ liveth in me.

Christ liveth in me, Christ liveth in me
O what a salvation this, that Christ liveth in me

Sing that one a while and it will do something to your heart!! Jesus is not far away beyond the clouds, not able to help in time of need, He's right inside of my body, I'm His Holy temple where He dwells!!!! Halleluiah!!!! Boy, that will change the way we think, and act, and treat God if you just realize that Christ is in you!!

If you would like to hear the tune go to: http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/c/h/christli.htm
and click where it says MIDI!

Does anyone here know "Zion's Hill"?

My hymn book is in storage right now as we moved to a tiny tiny home. :cry: (Soul Stirring Songs and Hymns)
The chorus goes like this;

Some day beyond the reach of mortal ken,
some day, God only know just where or when,
The wheels of mortal life shall all stand still,
AND I SHALL GO TO DWELL ON ZION'S HILL!

Hallelujah! That blesses me every time!

ZION'S HILL

There waits for me a glad tomorrow,

Where gates of pearl swing open wide;

And when I've passed this vale of sorrow,

I'll dwell upon the other side.

Someday I'll hear the angels singing,

Beyond the shadows of the tomb;

And all the bells of heaven ringing,

While all the saints are singing, "Home Sweet Home."

Someday my labors will be ended,

And all my wand'rings will be o'er,

And all earth's broken ties be mended,

And I shall sigh and weep no more.

Someday the dark clouds will be rifted,

And all the night of gloom be past,

And all life's burdens will be lifted;

The day of rest shall dawn at last.

CHORUS:

Someday beyond the reach of mortal ken;

Someday-God only knows just where and when--

The wheels of mortal life shall all stand still,

And I shall go to dwell on Zion's hill.

I collect hymnals; my favorite one is Living Hymns; it contains many deep, rich, theologically-correct hymns not found in most other hymnals.

Mine would have to be ...

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

When I survey the Wondrous cross,On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss, And pour contemp on all my pride.

Forbid it Lord! That I should boast, Save in the death of Christ my God:
All the vain things that charm me most, I sacfrifce them to His blood.

See, from His head, His hands, His feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down:
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet, Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far to small;
Love so amazing, so divine, Demands my soul, my life, my all.

This is just an awesome hymn.
Love so amazing... where would we be with out the amazing love of Jesus?
So Divine...
DEMANDS MY SOUL, MY LIFE MY ALL.
I usually can't get through this song with out crying. I moves me every tim I hear/sing it.

A Mighty Fortress is our God

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God

Refrain:

Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home,
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home.

I looked over Jordan, and what did I see?
Coming for to carry me home,
A band of angels coming after me,
Coming for to carry me home.

Refrain

If you get there before I do,
Coming for to carry me home,
Tell all my friends I
