What is a prayer wheel as in "Just a little talk with J

Recommended Posts

I have always wondered what the reference to a prayer wheel in the song means.

The only time I ever heard about a prayer wheel was in buddahism.

That is the only religion that uses one.\

If the reference was alluding to that in Buddahism, would that be enough to stop you from singing the song?

If not, Why. It is absolutely unscriptual. Why have it in a Gospel song?

I am not familiar with the song you are referring to, but yes a prayer wheel is not Christian. It is from Buddhism. If a song refers to a prayer wheel in a positive light, then I would refuse to sing it!

i know what you are talking about. it was in that hymn i will try to find it.

the verse goes "feel a little prayer wheel turning"

Words and music: Derriks

Just a little talk with Jesus

Note: I have heard this song done in a couple of ways. So this may not be the
exact version you know. this is the version I usually sing and play. After I learn
the other arrangement, I will submit it also. But, in the meantime, if you know
this version, enjoy.

(D)I (G) once was lost in (G7) sin but (C) Jesus took me in,
And (G) then a little light from heaven filled my soul (C)(G)(D)
He (G) bathed my heart in (G7) love and (C) wrote my name above,
(G) Just a little talk with (D) Jesus made me (G) whole.

(G) Now let us have a little talk with (G7) Je(G)sus
Let us tell Him about our (G7)trou(G)bles
He will (D) hear our faintest cry and He will (G) answer by and by
Now when you feel a prayer wheel(G7) tur(G)ning
Then you'll know a little fire is (G7)bur(G)ning
You will (C) find a little talk with (D)Jesus makes it (G) right

I may have doubts and fears, my eyes be filled with tears
But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night
I go to Him in prayer, He knows my every care
And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right

I was reading an article about that on http://www.blessedquietness.com/journal/housechu/budha.htm I was wondering what that phrase meant every time I sang that song. Now, that I know what it is referring to, I will never sing that song again! God said He would guide us into ALL Truth, and I'm so thankful that He opened my eyes to the true meaning of this song. :tum

In that song a prayer wheel is a figure of spech .You may be familiar with the saying "I see her brain wheels moving" It is meaning an effort to think is being put forth. In this song it means when you are putting forth an effort to pray. When you pray do you not feel the prayer? You can feel your effort to pray.
