A fellow was telling me, nearly every night for a couple weeks a mockingbird was not far from his bedroom window, just signing up a storm, keeping him awake most of the night. Finally after more that 2 weeks of this one night after midnight he loads up his shotgun, them goes mocking bird hunting. He finally tracked it down, aimed, fired. But when he fired he thought my shotgun sure was loud. But anyway, he turns on his flashlight to go see if he had killed it. About that time he heard some movement, and voice, Saying, "Who there."

It was his game warden neighbor, he had got tired of the mockingbird keeping him awake. All they found of the mockingbird was feathers, seems they both shot it at the same time from different directions. Thankfully only the bird got shot.

They talked a few moments, the game warden said, "Maybe we can get some sleep now," They parted company and headed back to bed.

Hmm, that's interesting. It is indeed a blessing they didn't hit each other.
Thanks for sharing.
God bless,
Joel.

Cool story Jerry! :clapping:

Reminds me of the night a cricket woke me up. When I tried to get him he got away. I went back to bed and he started again. That cricket was so loud I couldn't get back to sleep. I spent a half hour tracking that cricket down before I finally killed it and was able to get some sleep.

Talking about crickets. One night last summer they were steadily making their noise outside of our bedroom window. It seemed as if they had a high powered sound system and everyone of them had a microphone.

Finally after it nearly drove me nuts I got up, mixed up some insect killer I had, soaked them with it, and only them did the wife and I have peace so that we could sleep.

I hope you didn't try killing it with a shotgun. :icon_mrgreen:

No, I mixed up some insect killer in my 1 & 1/2 gallon hand spray tank, sprayed all along the end of our house where our bedroom was. It took care of them.

I sprayed around the back of the house last year when the crickets first started showing up and that really made a difference. There weren't many around the outside of the house last year and they didn't make it into the house.

Last year seemed to be our worse year for crickets. Skunks, that's something we have plenty of. One morning a few years ago I killed 14 skunks in a pasture across from my house. The only reason I did not kill any more, I ran out of shotgun shells. I went to town and bough another box, them killed 5 more. I did not have to move over a few yards each time in order to kill another one.

Yep, plenty of coyotes. We live clost to the railroad tracks and some nights I can hear a bunch them just on the other side of the tracks carrying on. Last summer there was a three-legged coyote that was coming into town eating out of my sisters pan beside her garage where she fed the cats.

Wonderful Lord's Day! The Holy Ghost really sent our pastor on an evangelistic furvor yesterday. He really detoured from his sermon a greatly challenged the nominal Christians to check their heart and see if they were truly saved and he laid it straight on the line that the lost were standing on the edge of hell where they could fall in at any moment if they didn't repent and accept Jesus as their Saviour and Lord. Wow! What a sermon!!!

Sunday school was also great and in AWANA last night the kids had their grand prix races follwed by cookies for all!

We just recently got rain, it had gotten pretty dry, now the grass is growing, and pretty and green!

Yet my yard is a mess, when we had new windows put in, and siding put on the none brick parts back in December and January, they trampled our yard to death, it looks the worse it ever has.
