Members John81
The place and the people were even better than we expected! We've placed him there and he was actually eager to go. We really believe this is a great opportunity for him.
Members matie-k
Wow great!!! What is the place like? What are his days like? About how many children are there?
Members John81
It's next to a small lake and the place is very nice. There are about 250 children there. Most of the time they have a ratio of about 10 children per classroom. The boys and girls are kept separated, no hanky-panky AT ALL is allowed. Everyone who works there is a Christian and they are really living out their faith.
Members matie-k
It sounds super! I hope he will thrive there. Will he come home for Christmas?
Members John81
No home Christmas. He could have waited and went there after Christmas but he was eager to go right away. We thought that while he's so eager we better go ahead and place him. We are not allowed any direct contact for the first 30 days but I did speak to the youth dorm manager yesterday and he said our son is doing well so far and he took his school placement test and he is placed in 9th grade right where he should be. We took him shopping and bought all the stuff he needed to take there as his Christmas presents and we took him out to eat at Pizza Hut where he wanted to go the night before we went there. Members matie-k
Is it a long drive away for you? Do they have chapel type services every day or anything like that? Did the social services people have a problem with him going there? (Am I asking too many questions?) :Green
Members John81
He's about two hours away. They have church services Sunday morning and night and Wednesday night. During the rest of the week there are various Bible studies and prayer meetings. The social services people cancelled their appointment last week so we haven't seen them since we placed him there. It's really not up to them anyway and I'm certain we have his best interests in mind far more than they do. :Green
Members matie-k
We're having company tonight. I'm thinking of serving spaghetti. There's a very small percentage of Chinese people who've ever had spaghetti.
Members John81
Wasn't spaghetti originally from China? I think I read that somewhere once. It was "discovered" in trade with China and for whatever reasons the Italians really loved it and became famous for it.
Members matie-k
Well, there's plenty of spaghetti noodle type meals, but I've never seen one with the tomato sauce like Americans eat.
Members John81
Well, what Chines and Americans do with food are often VERY different!
