IFB Jesuspaiditall4all Posted December 29, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 29, 2005 Our wood stove is a blessing and it does a wonderful job of heating our home. We have a forced air electric furnace and needless to say it is a costly heating source. The LORD has provided and has enabled my hubby to keep our wood supply up. Because of his efforts we rarely need to use the furnace.
IFB John81 Posted December 29, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 29, 2005 I love the heat from a wood stove so much better than heat from furnaces. I used to love cutting firewood with my Dad each fall. I even enjoyed splitting and hauling the firewood!
IFB Jesuspaiditall4all Posted December 29, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 29, 2005 Yes, it is a lot of work but the warmth is well worth the effort..... :D
IFB John81 Posted December 29, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 29, 2005 We have a natural gas heater here. It keeps us from freezing but it's expensive and the heat isn't near as good as from a good wood stove.
IFB Jesuspaiditall4all Posted December 29, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 29, 2005 Seems most heat sources are costly to operate.... I am thankful that we have been blessed with our wood-stove. My brother custom made it for us and it is able to accommodate a log that is 30 inches long and 14 inches in diameter. It also has been fitted with blower system that circulates around the exterior walls of fire box and then blows the warm heated air into the room. Advanced Member chev1958 Posted December 29, 2005 Advanced Member Share Posted December 29, 2005 We don't talk about Iowa on this board Iowa is a bad bad bad state I don't know about "bad", but I've noticed Iowa, or at least several Iowans, to be rather strange. OK, folks, I need a little explanation here. If the Lord has called me here, I could use some gouge on what to watch for. Mitch
Chelle
Even though I haven't been called to Iowa as Mitch has, my curiosity is getting the better of me. I'd love to know what's so bad about a state that produces so much great corn. Besides, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, I've got family there. So that's another basis for my interest. :D
IFB John81 Posted December 29, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 29, 2005 All I can say is I've noticed many native Iowans seem to be a bit off.
Advanced Member chev1958 Posted December 29, 2005 Advanced Member Share Posted December 29, 2005 C'mon, now, not good enough, John81. Alex Trebek would say you need to be a little more specific. Mitch
IFB John81 Posted December 29, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 29, 2005 It's hard to put into words, especially typing words! Many seem to be a little off their rocker while some are just plain quirky. I've worked with several and had a few as work friends, but there is/was something just a bit different about them. Of course, if they received some proper preaching and turned to Christ we could see a grand change take place! Go get'em Mitch! :saint
Chelle
Of course, if they received some proper preaching and turned to Christ we could see a grand change take place! Yeah! Who knows, they could get even quirkier! :hide Well, the Bible does say we are a "peculiar people", does it not? :
IFB John81 Posted December 29, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 29, 2005 Wow! Quirky AND peculiar! What a combination.

IFB John81 Posted December 30, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 30, 2005 Did y'all see the wicked weather across the country? Tornados in Georgia, raging fires in Texas and Oklahoma, flooding and more rains in Northern California?
Chelle
I've heard some here and there about the weather across the country -- especially the rains in northern California. That's why I was glad my mom was here with us for Christmas. She's at the Grand Canyon now, with one of her sisters and two of her grand-nephews (wow, it's weird to think of my mom being old enough to have grand-anythings ). I only hope there isn't any really bad weather up in Canada right now. My sister is travelling through there to Billings, Montana, to take a job in a hospital there as a Physician's Assistant. I'm glad she's finally on her way back to the lower 48. I'd like to ask ya'll to please pray for safe travel for her. After two days we finally heard that she and her boyfriend (who's driving with her -- we won't get into that part ) are alive and safe. Apparently he's been calling his mom every night. I don't know why she isn't following his example, but oh well. Anyway, I'd really appreciate your prayers for her safe arrival in Billings. :)
IFB Jesuspaiditall4all Posted December 30, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 30, 2005 I won't ask any questions, but I will pray for your sister, Michelle...... : The weather here has turned fairly warm for this time of year and instead of snow we are getting rain.... The temperature reached 42* today and over the next few days it is supposed to rise to 50*........now that is very unusual I must say, for winter, here. IFB John81 Posted December 30, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 30, 2005 I'm praying for your sister too, Michelle. It's been rather warm here. We are supposed to get some high winds and possible rain this weekend.
Chelle
Thank you both for your prayers. She called me last night, and told me they've gotten about 1000 miles from Delta Junction. That means they've got about 1500 more to go. So keep them prayers a-comin'! (Please )
IFB Jesuspaiditall4all Posted December 30, 2005 IFB Share Posted December 30, 2005 Will do... :D
