I use the "stay Puff Marshmallow" technique when I have bad dreams - if I wake up, I try to think about the nightmare in a different way...

example - I recently dreamed I was being gnawed and gnashed to death by alligators. So I woke up and then when I went back to sleep I concentrated on changing the dream - this time around I touched each gator and they popped like soap bubbles!

I've tried that and it didn't work for me.

I used to be able to concentrate on refighting the Battle of Gettysburg and that would focus my mind and I would fall asleep while thinking about that and dream about that. However, that doesn't work anymore either because I've fought and won that battle so many times there isn't anything new to think about! :tum
