Members DaveW
That's a cool kangaroo! Have you ever seen one in the wild there in Australia? How common are they? Zac has gone to bed but I won't make you wait till tomorrow. That Roo was hanging around the pic nic area at a place called Serpentine Falls. They are wild there and actually a bit of a nuisance because people feed them, so they come to expect it. She was a little lady about three feet tall, maybe three and a half, and a joey (baby roo) about 2'ish. I have been told that roos are about as common as deer in those places. Most of the time when you go bushwalking you will see a couple of roos, but you won't ever see them in town - occasionally on the outskirts. They are beautiful to watch, and some are friendly, but you don't want to cross them - even small ones like this can get aggressive, and when they do they rear up on their tails and kick forwards at you with their strong back legs. When you consider that the big reds can easily be 6' tall and have been known to be as much as 8' tall, you realise that although they look cute, you have to be careful. Mostly in the wild they watch you and hop away if you get too close. And they make a very decent dent in the front of your car if you meet them at night! But they taste alright! (not after they bounced off the car by the way )
