Administrators HappyChristian Posted August 9, 2007 Administrators Share Posted August 9, 2007 Government schools aren't in the business of education - they are in the business of indoctrination and creating little socialists. I know, there are a lot of good teachers, and some schools that are good - but by and large, it is a bad system.
Members 5dumplings@home
and sadly, a lot of Christian schools are going the same direction.
Members John81
Very true LuAnne and Jennifer! The public schools are pitiful and too many Christians schools are simply copying public schools. Some "Christian" schools use the exact same coursework and textbooks as do the public schools and add a prayer to their classes or a Bible class so they can call themselves Christian. :sad
Members tired
We have a big christian school here in Maryland that plays all the sports aginst the public schools. I went to a tiny christian school. We just played other IFB schools. I know catholic schools play public schools, but I never really saw evangelical schools play them. This school was just beginning when I was graduating. Now they have 2 campuses one for the high school and in a different city is the middle and grammar. They have become real vague in their doctrine. I guess that is why have gotten so big.
Members John81
I read about another Christian school that really pushed their football program. They finally got to play the public schools and started recruiting football players to their school. The last I heard, the school is now mostly Christian in name only. :sad
Members 5dumplings@home
I taught at a school that was Christian in name only. I couldn't get enough showers to clean the filth of that place off me after I got out. (Felt like I was leaving Sodom or Gomorrah...or Corinth)
Administrators HappyChristian Posted August 9, 2007 Administrators Share Posted August 9, 2007 I was privileged to attend one of the first Christian schools that began the wave of Christian education. Sadly, by the time I got to seventh grade, my teacher was giving us copies of Good News for Modern Man (we called it Bad News for Modern Apes ). Now, the school is still in existence, but is not Christian in any way!
Members tired
I had no idea that the emergent church leader Brian Mclaren's church is so close to me. I am going to have to take Jesus out of the box I have him in. Mclaren might come over and tell me I am wrong and then tell me there is no wrong. :Green

Administrators HappyChristian Posted August 9, 2007 Administrators Share Posted August 9, 2007 I have always found it amusing in an ironic sort of way that people say that there are no absolutes, everything is relative...but they are so adamant about it - that makes it an absolute, doesn't it?

I just had four hours of "membership class" at our church. What it really amounts to is those who want to join the church meet with the pastor and he goes over what the church believes, what the vision of the church is, how the church operates, and that sort of thing. As the pastor said, the membership needs to understand all of this and be in harmony. I really enjoyed those classes. Too many churches if you want to become a member, there is little to it other than, "don't forget to tithe here now".
