Members Madeline
The only time the TV would be on is when I would watch the news, or play a DVD. Other than that - life's too short to watching TV when there are more important duties to attend to.
Members John81
We only had two channels until I was about 9, and then we had three channels! There were no DVDs.
Administrators HappyChristian Posted August 8, 2007 Administrators Share Posted August 8, 2007 Yeah! We got channel 5 and 7. There weren't even any videos!!! Remember the 8-track player?
Members John81
I didn't have an 8-track player until I was about 13. Before that it was all records. It wasn't until I was 17, almost 18, that cable TV came to town.
Members tired
We had cable back when it was just for good reception for the network channels. We had 7 channels.
Members John81
Actually, now that I've thought more about it, I was 18 or 19 before cable made it to our little town!
Administrators HappyChristian Posted August 8, 2007 Administrators Share Posted August 8, 2007 I never had an 8-track player, just wanted one because it was so much neater than a record player!!! And we never had cable (poor deprived us... ).

Members IM4given
I watched most of the John Wayne movies as first-releases at the drive-in movies. Anybody remember those? The had family night and charged $2 per carload, so everyone that could be crammed into a car got to go. We had more fun at the drive-in than a tornado in a trailor park! ! It was bigger than life and the scenery was spectacular. Now I only watch him (and Jimmy Stewart) on AMC or TCM once in awhile.

Administrators HappyChristian Posted August 8, 2007 Administrators Share Posted August 8, 2007 Gary Cooper ranks right up there with Wayne and Stewart. Loved High Noon!
Members 5dumplings@home
I didn't get much more western than The Lone Ranger. Listened to Marty Robbins. My brother sat in Gene Autry's car once. (Neighbor drove a tow truck, car broke down, etc.)
