Obama Administration Considers Pro-Euthanasia British-Style

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The new administration of president Barack Obama is still putting up nameplates on walls and staff members are learning how to use their computers. But some watchdogs are concerned that the administration is already full steam ahead with a plan that could lead to assisted suicide, euthanasia and health care rationing.

Americans are familiar with the problems that accompany the British-style system of health care -- where costs outweigh the benefit of patients.

Patients see waiting lists and face pressured to go to Europe for an assisted suicide rather than receiving appropriate medical care. Medical providers use cost-analysis to determine if patients get the latest drugs or treatment.

Scott Gottlieb, a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, has penned a new Wall Street Journal column saying the Obama administration plans to pursue the same thing here.

This is actually to be expected. The liberals are pro-socialism and they are bent upon terminating life at both ends; aborting the unborn and euthanizing the elderly...all for their own good and ours too, of course. :sad

In recent years they have even become more open about their support for ideas not publically supported in America since World War II. More and more they are talking of the importance, "need" and even the "humanity and compassion", of aborting all babies who are or even might be mentally or physically impaired. Some have even been so bold as to proclaim that many like that who are already born would be better off to be put to sleep.

Such talk was common in pre-WWII America where eugenics was a popular concept and practice and gaining much support. With America's entry into WWII and the association of Nazism and eugenics such became evil or at least taboo. Today, less than 70 years after the crushing of Nazi Germany, such talk is once more gaining in acceptability and popularity.

Truly, there is nothing new under the sun.

I read a report a few years ago about doctors in a Scandanavian country where doctors are allowed to put to sleep patients they don't think will make it very long or that they don't think would have a high enough quality of life.

The report found that when doctors in that country developed serious medical conditions, or got older and came down with a serious illness, they actually feared going to another doctor in their own country. They would specifically go to another country to find a doctor knowing that a doctor in their own country might take it upon himself to end their life "for their own good". Scary indeed! :eek

As for you, it would not be so bad.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Rev 21:4 (KJV)

But for the lost, it would just rush them into that and join the Rich man in torments.

20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
Luke 16:20-31 (KJV)

For many of us would life be worth living as it is if this is as good as it gets?

But what a great privilege it is to live all the days of our lives for the glory of God & our Savior Jesus Christ.

All of us, no matter who we are, we can live our lives and be an example for others to live for our wonderful God who has showed us so much mercy and grace.

Think of the wonderful promises that lies at the end of this life for all who put their faith and hope in Jesus.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Rev 21:4-5 (KJV)

Knowing Jesus be with us, we ought to be able to live thru anything that comes our way in this life.

Socialised health care only leads in one direction. Obama has praised socialised health care in European countries. The liberal-socialist left, of which Obama is a part, support abortion at all stages, have shown support for allowing "unwanted" newborns to be allowed to be set aside until they die, believe "assisted suicide" should be a right, have put forth the idea that unhealthy elderly folks should be put to death, etc.

The liberal socialist left holds to many of the beliefs held by the eugenics supporters of pre-WWII America. These included the forced sterilization of "underclasses" and mentally and physically handicapped along with any others deemed "undesirable" or "burdens on society".

While it's not much talked about, Hitler admired much about America in these regards and patterned some of Nazi Germany's eugenics programs on those in America at that time.

Socialists are socialists, whether their name is Hitler, Pelosi, Obama or whatever. Their pursuit is the perfect society based upon their own beliefs of what constitutes perfect and they believe they are justified in using any means necessary to achieve that desired goal.

As much as I am concerned about this I am outraged you call yourselves Americans and Christians calling American Nazi Germany and compareing Obama to Hitler. You know we Christians should be praying for our leaders not breaking them down and trashing unto them. If America is going tobe nazi Germany then we would hear it all over the news. If Obama will be killing the elderly and mentally ill they would put it on the news.
These World Daily net, lifenews ETC is putting fear into people believe into the worse.

I'm sorry maim but when this was happening to German-Jewish Children the German people were unaware. I don't believe this is happening here now but I do believe Obama's adminisration is considering this as a option for cost cutting. It only takes good people to do nothing. Pixiedust

The mainstream news is liberal-socialist, why would they warn others about what they want to become reality?

Nobody said America is Nazi Germany and nobody compared Obama to Hitler. The fact is, in early 20th century America the eugenics movement was strong and had prominent, even government support. Consider the state of Virginia, for example, which had forced sterilization policies in place. Among the supporters of eugenics were those who promoted mass abortion, sterilization, and the purposeful reduction of the "underclasses and undesirables". Among these was the founder of Planned Parenthood. It's a fact that Hitler studied these things from America and used some of what he learned in his Nazi program.

WWII and the Nazi connection with eugenics crushed the movement in America but now it's reviving among the liberal socialists again. That's just the way it is. It's not about attacking anyone, it's about pointing out the truth.

How much better can we pray for our leaders and nation if we know the truth rather than basing our prayers on lies or partial understanding?
