Members Samer
It's not something most people would call themselves...I think it's a derogatory term of sorts. Comes up a lot on FFF. If anybody could enlighten us on it, Will probably could. Some would probably consider KJB-only to be IFBx. It's a confusing term, and there are so many variables within IFB circles, so the x is ambiguous...extreme in what?
Administrators Pastor Matt Posted February 19, 2007 Administrators Share Posted February 19, 2007 Back in Jesus day the world thought that He was extreme, that's why they killed him when He was innocent.
Members Tim
I am the token SBC (SBC by church affiliation, Christian by Faith :smile ) Outside the IFB world we are considered to be the extreme fundamentalist among Christians . Members Bakershalfdozen
I have seen the FFF debates on what is an IFBx and it seems everyone has their own defnitions. Some people seem to think that merely believing that something can harm a person's walk with God means they are an IFBx. God's Word calls us to holiness. However, some pastors have set themselves up as the final authority for their congregation and really do not understand or do not care what the Scriptures teach in a few areas like repentance and true worldliness (as opposed to "Thou shalt not wear wire-rimmed glasses or pleated pants). This "test" is one of the more comprehensive ones I read. See what you think. http://www.fundamentalforums.com/showth ... light=IFBx
Members Anon
The only thing I know is who calls themselves "IFBx" and what kind of person they are.... I'll check the link.
Members Anon
Re the link....we are not IFBx except there were a few things on the list I think were considered by some to be "IFBx" but I do not consider them to be such at all. However we don't do any of the Hyles-y stuff and most of the listing seemed like it was stemming from that mindset.
Members kevinmiller
There were some things on there that I didn't consider "x" either.
Members Sojourner
They are extremist. They are probably the type who will walk up to tell your unsaved friend to wear culottes or they can't participate the church activities to places like pizza hut (where people around them wear pants anyhow) BEFORE they preach the gospel. yes, this actually happened to me, except we were going to Liberty University haunting house. What was Liberty University doing having a haunted house??? :wink
Members Psalms18_28
What was Liberty University doing having a haunted house??? They were trying to show everyone what hell is like and in the end, they preach the gospel. LU is more of a worldly college than it used to be. Members Anon
I know colleges much more conservative than Liberty who do the same type of thing...I don't agree with it at all.
Members Samer
It's a very Southern Baptist thing to do. :loco
Members ltl
That's right - either "Do you wanna go heaven?" or "Do you wanna escape hell?" Very man centred.
