Members hermanj
This is the text to a song I'm writing. I thought I would post it here and get comments before I get too far in writing the music. Feel free to criticize...I am the first to admit I'm not very good at writing lyrics. You did it all for me Two thousand years ago, a man walked this earth He came with no fanfare, in a stable his mother gave birth He came with one purpose, he came to die for me And because of what Jesus did, I now can live set free [Chorus] Lord, you were mocked by the crowd; you were falsely accused you were crowned with sharp thorns; you were beaten and bruised you were sentenced to die; you were hung on a tree You shed your blood, and you did it all for me. You took the punishment, that I deserved and you're building a mansion, that for me is reserved I was headed to Hell, but you showed me your grace And I know that your blood was shed, so my sins could be erased [Chorus] I will thank you, Lord for your free gift to me. I will thank you, Lord for the price paid on Calvary. The gift was eternal life, the price was your death, and I received that free gift the day I confessed. [Chorus]
Members Jerry
Looks good, except for this second line: in an inn his mother gave birth Jesus wasn't born in the inn, but in the manger or stable.

Thanks for pointing that out!

Members hermanj
It's going pretty well. I have the melody line sketched out, but I haven't had a chance to start on writing an accompaniment part yet.

Members hermanj
I've finished the music to this song, now. If anyone would like to hear it, PM me with an e-mail address and I will send a copy of it. It has trombones and trumpets playing instead of a choir singing, but it shouldn't be too hard to follow the words. If anyone would like to buy it to sing in a group or with a choir, I would be willing to sell it for a donation--whatever you or your church can afford--to cover the cost of printing.
