Did you know that you can sing Amazing Grace to the tune for Gilligan's Island?

It has to do with the meter.

There are lots of songs that have the same meter, tempo and rhythm, except for Rock music and a lot of CCM. <<<--- Who knows what in th' world that crazy garbage is. :roll  I call it "grape nuts flakes" music. The three words, "grape nuts flakes only have one word right, just like CCM:::::::::

***Grape nuts flakes have no grapes and no nuts, but they are flakes.

***Realizing that not all CCM is evil, if a song is written today it is contemporary, but the common genre of CCM is not Christian. Intrinsically speaking, it isn't even decent music. However, it does have one word right; it is contemporary. :lol

Okay now it is stuck in my head....to the tune of Gilligan's Island!!!
The part I keep getting stuck on is "with Gilligan....the Skipper too...the Millionaire and his wife...the Movie Star...the Professor and May Ann...here on Gilligan's Isle!"

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

T'was Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.

The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures.

When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
(end)

The Blind Boys from Alabama sing Amazing Grace to the tune of House of the Rising Sun - it was one of their biggest hits. :bonk:

I had accepted a pastorate last year in Kentucky. I had told them I would come only if we "reeled in" the music program. They whole heartedly agreed. My first Sunday there a young man did exactly what you say.... he sang Amazing Grace to "House of Rising Sun" a song about drinking and prostitution. (SEE LINK BELOW)

I asked two leaders in the church if they knew what that song was about.. they said yes and the one (the boys grandfather) had sang it with him one time.

I prompty resigned on my first day as this indicated to me that they were too far gone......
