Members kevinmiller
What if Baptists are wrong in doctrine? Obviously, if you are a Baptist, then you think that you are following Scripture. Suppose you aren't. What if some of the doctrine that we hold to is a result of misinterpreted Scripture? Then what? All Baptist baptisms are unscriptural? And then, all of the baptisms are then void. Hmm...I'm starting to wonder if anyone has been truly baptized... :hmm
Members John81
And just what is Scriptural baptism, Jerrynumbers? If a person was led to the Lord by a non-IFB but still was truly born again (repentance/confession/faith) and was subsequently baptized as an evidence of their faith, the baptism is valid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Invalid baptisms are: Sprinkling or whatever as an affirmation into a particular denomination Immersion into a particular denomination As a means of salvation After a false profession[/list:u] But if you have a person who was truly born again and followed the Lord in baptism out of love and obedience, the baptism is the believer's baptism, not the baptizer's baptism. It doesn't matter if the baptizer was SBC, PCA, green, blue or purple, it was the believer who believed and was obedient!Sprinkling as a baby :amen:
Members Bakershalfdozen
Could you explain what you mean by this? Thanks. Being baptized in order to "join the club". The purpose of baptism is not so one can say, I am now a Baptist. Or, I am now a *denomination*. The purpose of baptism is to show the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ in the life of the new believer.
Members JerryNumbers
Its been explained, over and over, I did not say rebaptize everyone. Only those who do not have a scriptural baptism. What is a scriptural baptism, a baptism that has been done by a scriptural church, one who has authority from God.
Members Psalms18_28
He just copied and pasted the baptist brider thread. I think I do have a good understanding of where he stands anyway though. :Green It would probably be better if it was linked to this thread instead of copying and pasting. It would made it very easy to read.
Members JerryNumbers
Probably, but there is always one who will not click on the link. I didn't. And one had already said they did not have time to go over there and read it.
