Members Bakershalfdozen
Our internet service goes out whenever it rains. Every single time. I'll call the company, they will send someone out; it is never on our end but rather something they need to fix in the line or at the box on the street. However, they say it isn't because of the rain, just "something that needs fixed". Anyone have any ideas? This happened a few days ago and the service was our for 3 days because it rained for 3 days straight. :Bleh
Members zealyouthguy
Dial up? If so, it's probably your junction box for your phone line. Make sure it's siliconed sealed where water can reach it. If you have any splitters anywhere, check them also.

Members Bakershalfdozen
Every time, I unplug, unhook, disconnect, reset, etc. It doesn't do any good so I call the provider. Then they send someone out and tell me that there is a problem in the line. Usually it is in the signal box down the street. Sometimes it is an actual piece of equipment. Members LAF
Do you have any other internet options ?Here we have a few other dsl providers .(we live in a small town )
Members Psalms18_28
Are you hearing any noise on the telephone line when it rains? If so, call your telephone company about it, and maybe they will fix it.. and it could help your DSL line.
Members Bakershalfdozen
No, the phone works perfectly fine, even when it rains. The phone and DSL line are plugged into the same jack with a filter.

I'm trying to decide which is the bigger hassle, changing companies or not having internet every time it rains.
Members PreacherE
My DSL does the same thing when it storms. I take it you have BellSouth as well. I haven't called them about it to do anything though. I just take that time to do other things or to spend time with family.
Members Bakershalfdozen
We don't have BellSouth and I don't mind it going out once in awhile but for it to go out every time it rains creates problems because we do some business on the internet. Members Psalms18_28
If your phone line seem to work ok, then I don't think it is the phone line... I think it is something to do with DSL outside of your home. Does company that provide DSL get rain the same time you do? if so, it could be them. If not, it could be the box providing the DSL outside your house. btw, we have a radio tower in our area, and sometimes it interfer our radio station and cable tv. We had to install a special filter for our cable (and I think our phone line too because we were getting noise) because of the tower. Members Bakershalfdozen
Right. I know it isn't on our end. Every time they come out they have to go down the street to where the connection is and fix something.
Members Bakershalfdozen
I guess it just bugs me that this happens every time it rains but they won't listen. They say it has nothing to do with the rain. What I am wanting to know is, is there a scientific reason for DSL to go out every time it rains? Can water get inside those connection boxes down the street?

I did a search and yes the rain can get into the boxes .At least thats what I got from my search They need to fix the box by covering it so the rain doesn't get in.
