Children In The Church Service

At what age did you all expect your children to be able to sit in a sermon and pay attention well enough to be able to tell you what it was about so that you knew they were indeed paying attention? How did you go about training them to pay attention? I am asking because I am wondering if I'm expecting too much, too little or about right out of my kids.

I believe that it depends on a number of factors. If a child has been in church since they were born they should be taught to sit quietly. If not, they will have to be taught just as when they begin to attend school they must sit quietly and listen. It also can depend on their age. Most churches have a nursery where infants and toddlers stay until they are two or three.
