This is a serious threat to our rights as parents. A lot of the lunacy that is enacted nationwide has its origins in California.

Why is it that it seems only homeschooled children report "physical and emotional mistreatment by the children's father"?

Check out the attached list of "PUBLIC" school shootings in the past decade. How come no court ever says that we need to outlaw Public School as it is obviously unsafe for our children?

Jonesboro massacre Jonesboro, Arkansas March 24, 1998 Parker Middle School Shooting Edinboro, Pennsylvania April 24, 1998 Thurston High School shooting Springfield, Oregon May 21, 1998 Columbine High School massacre Littleton, Colorado April 20, 1999 Heritage High School shooting Conyers, Georgia, May 20, 1999 Buell Elementary School shooting Mount Morris, Michigan February 29, 2000 Santana High School shooting Santee, California March 5, 2001 Granite Hills High School shooting El Cajon, California March 22, 2001 Appalachian School of Law shooting Grundy, Virginia January 16, 2002 University of Arizona School of Nursing shooting Tucson, Arizona October 28, 2002 John McDonough High School Shooting New Orleans, Louisiana April 14, 2003 Red Lion Area Junior High School shootings Red Lion, Pennsylvania April 24, 2003 Case Western Reserve University shooting Cleveland, Ohio May 9, 2003 Rocori High School shootings Cold Spring, Minnesota September 24, 2003 Red Lake High School massacre Red Lake, Minnesota March 21, 2005 Campbell County High School shooting Jacksboro, Tennessee November 8, 2005 Pine Middle School shooting Reno, Nevada March 14, 2006 Platte Canyon High School shooting Bailey, Colorado September 27, 2006 Weston High School shooting Cazenovia, Wisconsin September 29, 2006 Amish school shooting Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania October 2, 2006 Virginia Tech massacre Blacksburg, Virginia April 16, 2007 Delaware State University shooting Dover, Delaware September 21, 2007 SuccessTech Academy shooting Cleveland, Ohio October 10, 2007 Notre Dame Elementary shooting Portsmouth, Ohio February 7, 2008 Louisiana Technical College shooting Baton Rouge, Louisiana February 8, 2008 Mitchell High School shooting Memphis, Tennessee February 11, 2008 E.O. Green School shooting Oxnard, California February 12, 2008 Northern Illinois University shooting DeKalb, Illinois February 14, 2008

Name Location Date/Year

How about the recent (and not so recent) cases we've had reported of PUBLIC school teachers molesting and/or having affairs with their adolescent students? Doesn't sound like a good learning environment to me (unless, of course, you follow the liberal view of sex education).

No, instead they choose to find these isolated incidents within the homeschool community and treat it as a serious blight upon the whole, while treating the atrocities listed above as isolated incidents that really have no impact upon the system.

And PAHLEASE! don't ever raise the issue of GPA comparisons!

"California courts have held that under provisions in the Education Code, parents do not have a constitutional right to homeschool their children."

I'd like to see chapter and verse on this one....

Its amazing that people have the right to sodomize each other with consent but cannot teach math to their child or discipline them in order to make them a good member of society. :loco

So did this actually pass? I have a homeschooling friend in California. Waiting to hear back from her.

Not yet. It has been passed on to the State Supreme Court (which usually tends to be a little more sane). Still, prayer is needed. Until the Supreme Court has its say, the system will stay in tact as is, which is actually pretty easy going.

Is this to prevent bad people of Homeschooling or Parents to Homeschool? I have someone saying she agrees with this and she is a strong Christian and you need a college education because you will ruien your childs life. I said on another Board I am going to say it here. We didn't have to worry about this over 180 years ago.

This is to prevent parents from homeschooling, plain and simple. The government wants control of our childrens minds from cradle to grave. The NEA is the arm to facilitate this. Did you know that more money is spent by the government on public education than on our National Defense? That's pretty significant considering the failure the school system has become.

The NEA also doesn't like homeschoolers because we show up the public schoolers on the standardized tests and national competitions consistantly, and we do it for a lot less money per student.

Also, NEA = liberal. Most homeschoolers = conservative. Not exactly where they want America to be headed.

I bet they are talking about CA's state constitution. They have probably amended it to the point where it says that!

Just one more reason my husband and I left that fruit-and-nut state 7 years ago. No offense to those of you still living there.
