Members AmazingGrace
Was just wondering, I have heard about Hudson Taylor and Saint Augustine a few times recently, but really don't know much about either and was wondering if their books/biographies were good reading. Any comments would be welcomed. Thank You.
Administrators HappyChristian Posted April 1, 2009 Administrators Share Posted April 1, 2009 Hudson Taylor was a fascinating man whose goal in life, once he was saved and surrendered, was to know God intimately. Reading about him and books by him would definitely be a good use of reading time! I have the biography written by his grandson and granddaughter-in-law. It is great. I bought it when I was in college just because I was curious about him. I have read it at least 3 times. The book Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret was required reading in one of my hubby's college classes many years ago. It's also good. We are right now reading his book One with Christ. Now, I'm not saying that we all would agree with everything he did or said, but anyone who reads him and about him would be blessed! If one were to read Augustine, I would be very careful. I like to read biographies of people who are well known - but when their doctrine is questionable, discernment is needed.
Members phil 4.8
I few years ago, our teen group watched a film about Hudson Taylor. I also read a book about his life. I was really fascinated. His life is an encouragement to walk close with God and only trust in him!
