jumping in here' date=' but my Yankee friends can't believe I eat fried okra...... you would think I was eating a dog or something!![/quote']

Fried okra! Hey, I'll mark you down as being A OK, that stuff sure is good. I loved it as a child, and still think its yummy!

I like it a bit crisp, so Linda always has some for me, and some for her that's not as crisp. I believe I could eat it like popcorn.

Something about the smell of popping corn and cooking hot dogs that make one think they can live with getting a bag of popcorn and a hot dog.

I still can recall the smell of the concession stand the 1st time I ever entered a movie theater, it is a most wonderful aroma to ones nose and make you instantly lust for popcorn and hot dogs.

This is making me hungry for popcorn and a hot dog. :lol

I've heard that it comes from the flow of adrenaline and it does something to the meat to make it jucier or something. I can't remember exactly. It's not a common practice, though, and I believe it is illegal.

That's what I remember. I do believe in most areas it's illegal but the report I saw said it's still rather common "on the street" and in the "underground" in some places.

Most hot dogs contain much of what's left over from hogs' date=' cows, etc., after the real meat has been cut away.[/quote']

Don't say all of that, I'll think about it next time and want be able to stomach them. :uuhm:

I like them best on a hot dog bun them pour Hormel Hot Chili over it, them crush a few Fritos over it, yummy.

Amazingly, some people actually practically live off the stuff!

I know of guys who went through survival training and had to eat bugs, worms, snakes and whatever. Some people will eat anything.

A guy who used to live here in this little town (he's since passed away) was captured in WWII and was part of the infamous Bataan Death March, survived all those years of being a POW under the Japanese by eating maggots and bugs. He said many men couldn't bring themselves to eat such and most of them died.

He had poor eyesight due to the malnutrition of those years as a POW.

Yes, and I've also heard of prisoners in Southeast Asia countries who save some of their rice rations to feed to the roaches. They later ate the roaches for the protein.
