What preachers do you listen to? Are they heretical?

Copeland cracks me up. I know I should be upset by how he's a deceiver but he's so bonkers I feel anyone who is deceived by him wants to be. The Copeland "mashups" on YouTube are hilarious. I know, I guess I'm carnal in these matters but sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh at these nut cases.

Oh I completely agree. I occasionally watch YouTube videos of these guys for entertainment purposes. The compilations they've done on Jim Bakker and his guest's are beyond normal and hilarious watching him trying to sell those food buckets for thousands of dollars.

Copeland and hIs crew are on a different level. Between him, his wife, and Billy Bryne (spelling?)...I can't stand to watch them for more than ten minutes.

I didn't have to go outside the church to hear the sermons of this guy; My former pastor was copying his transcripts off the internet and "preaching" them practically word for word. I would not recommend that to anyone, especially lost people and baby Christians. Has referred to himself as a "7 point" Calvinist.

I have been listening to a childhood friend of mine, Pastor Darren Tharp, Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church in Independence, MO. He's been a great encouragement to me over the past 18 months.

I've also been listening to Pastor Redlin of the Pensacola Christian College's Campus Church.

My favourite preachers that I listen to on podcasts are J. Vernon McGee (Thru The Bible series - I am aware of the few spots he is off, so tune those parts out - but also his various sermons), Clarence Sexton, Alan Cairns and William McCrea. These last two are solid KJVonly Free Presbyterians - so some differences, but I have been blessed by literally hundreds and hundreds of their sermons over the years. In fact, Sexton and McCrea each have preached at the other's church various times over the years.

These all are EXCELLENT preachers! I used to listen to the late Evangelist Dr. Paul Levin quite often. He was a family friend. I also was so privileged to hear Dr. Don Camp, Dr. Ron Comfort (also a personal family friend), and Dr. B. Myron Cedarholm. I have many tapes of these men. They have really had an affect on my life.

That's John Piper, right? The "Christian Hedonist".

My aunts and uncles were raised believing they are Baptist, but don't have a clue what it means to be one. They don't attend church or read their bibles but are always sharing some "inspirational"  quote on Facebook by one of those false teachers  It is very disheartening to know so many claiming to be Christian can support any of these people.

Grievously knowing the antichrist one that gets thousands or millions of times more than these little guys mentioned on this forum.   How?  Sheer deception.  The world loves its own.  (and is self-deceived and deceives everyone)  The false religion and false medicine and false governments and military/weapons might account for 95% or more of where the money goes in the whole world,  without helping anyone with it.  A token few dollars (even if it is millions),  may for show go to those in need.  God says no to trust in that for anything - not to trust the governments, religions, or entities that are of the world, under the direction of the enemy,  for profit.

Laugh?   LAUGH! ?   God Laughs at the plans of the wicked !  Copeland and Graham and pharmacy and communist and socialist and even democracists? ... Babylon in toto.  The ones not seeking God's Kingdom.  The ones not repenting.

Do people listen to heretical preachers?   Absolutely.  They become twice the sons of the devil too,  as written.   They far outnumber the saints,  the truth, true preachers and true believers.   Likely if not actually,  they always have greatly outnumbered the followers who trust in God,   except for potentially two times in earths history, so far.

Churches need to have a list of resources to give new believers to help guide them. I know a man who was recently saved, and like a new believer he is hungry for the word. Due to his work schedule he misses services every couple of weeks so he looks for preaching online or on the television. Unfortunately he has been listening to some of these wolves. A list of books and approved speakers/authors would be of great help to those who are searching and don't know any better. Unfortunately, once they've started listening to these types it's hard to draw them away.

Um, Wretched, reading that page you link to is not a good resource. Yes, listening to, reading and studying the KJV is good - but not hyper-focussing on the New Testament alone. Also, a site that promotes that your salvation is based on continued listening to the KJV is suspect!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using sound study materials and commentaries. What you will find is most “solo” Christians that cast off any “man-made” materials, such as commentaries, sermons, Bible study materials, etc.** eventually go by the wayside themselves - because they have no check on their understanding of the Word of God. If they misunderstand something or don’t know what certain words mean, they they wing it and get sidetracked or worse. Using sound (double emphasis on SOUND) Bible study materials and commentaries opens up the Word of God to us - or do you think you are the only person God ever guided in the study of His Word. Sound Bible Commentators and preachers of the past - hey, even your pastor if he is soundly preaching and teaching from God’s Word - can help us in our study of the Bible.

**Of course we need to practice discernment and use materials that build upon our understanding of the Word of God and open it up to us - not question or cast doubt on it.

The sight is directed towards new Christians I think that's why it's focused on the NT.

You should also consider it friend. His pure Word unadulterated by men's tradition will do wonders for you. Listen intently and force yourself to set aside your indoctrination. It really works and it will work for anyone, that is God's True promise to us in His Word. Men's opinions are not sharper than any two edged sword but His Word is. Men's opinions are full of error, His Word is not. He promises His Spirit would guide us in all Truth, if we are truly seeking His Truth out of a pure heart with no other agendas. Remember, faith comes by hearing the Word of God, not your favorite authors opinions.

Choose wisely friend.
