So what? Was this posted to disparage President Trump in some obscure way?

You seem hypersensitive about Trump.

Aesop said, "A man is known by the company he keeps." Perhaps to judge what kind of man Trump is we should follow his friends and associates in the news and see how many are disbarred, arrested, sent to jail, etc. Do you think that a good idea? As of last October, I have not checked more recently, 18 of Trumps friends and associates have been arrested and or sent to jail. Does that tell you anything about Trump's character?

This is chump work compared to Hunter Biden or Ed Buck.

Time will tell.

From your posts about this subject BB, it would seem that you are the one that is hypersensitive about President Trump. So hypersensitive that you feel the need to track not only him, but anyone that has any connection to him. Eh?

I am not particularly fond of any president. I believe no one and I mean no one can attain that office without compromising many beliefs they once held. Perhaps Trump did not compromise his beliefs and that would be because he has only one belief..."What is good for me." Nothing else matters.

To me, during my lifetime, he president who will viewed in history most favorably is Harry Truman. He made extremely good decisions that set the country on the golden path that lasted until Ronald Reagan. To me the downward slope we have been on began with Ronnie. Eisenhower was ok. I did not like Kennedy. I was not all that fond of Johnson, though some good. Carter was out of his league and suffered from situations no president could control. Bush 1 was fair. Clinton did some good in his second term when he teamed up with Republicans'.  Nixon was terrible and set the country up for great division with his Southern Policy. I feel Bush 2 was the victim of bad advisors. Obama was disappointing, but did get a healthcare package passed. What are your views on presidents during your lifetime? I realized you do not go back as far as I.

Having said that, I do not like Trump. To me he is one of the most immoral men to have ever lived, much less being president of our country. I could go into what I see as his immorality, but not now.

I would like to know what is it that you like about Trump.

In the first place BB, I did not say I liked President Trump; I commented on you bashing him in almost every thread on this board. Second, you guess that I do not go back as far as you, but you may be mistaken, I am pushing 80 really hard. Never was politically minded as a young man, but was not saved at that time either. That was a lifetime ago.

I truly dislike you're continual bashing of President Trump. I wasn't a fan of his, and never will be. But he did many good things for the country. No DEMOCRAT will admit that.

The ONLY good thing Harry Truman did was to drop the 2 atomic bombs on Japan in WWII. He made good decisions? Where? When???

President Reagan...again a Republican, which grou you definitely seem to have a problem with...was one of the best POTUS' we have ever had.

Kennedy? He was a pretty good President outside of his adulterous affairs. He was an old fashioned Democrat, not like the ones today who embrace Socialist ideals. He would have handily won a second term had he not been assassinated. Some of the bad things he did were: 1) getting us involved even further in Vietnam than we ever should have been. 2) Cutting off Cuba. If he would have just had the embargo on Cuba during the missile crisis but allowed our country to continue trade with this island nation, we probably would have already seen the return of capitalism there.

Johnson was only good for the Civil Rights work he brought into law. The work he did on Social Security was not much of an improvement to Social Security. More Socialism brought in.

Carter? UGH! What can I say? A TOTAL FAiLURE! The hostage crisis in Iran was proof of this, as was the inflation and jobless rate in this country! And besides, he always had to "go ask Aimee" about his decisions! What a joke!

Bush 41...Never was a fan of his...His nomination was proof that the Republican party had left many Republican's without a party. He was more of a Democrat than a Republican, and was only on the Reagan ticket to get the liberal and moderate left of the Republican party to vote for Reagan in 79.

Bush 43 wasn't much better than his father. The only good thing he did was to respond to our being attacked on 9/11. The invasion of Afghanistan to do away with the Taliban was the right thing to do. He was a calming voice after the attacks. But, he was also lying through is teeth when he took us back into Iraq. We had NO BUSINESS there whatsoever!

Obama was deplorable in everything he did. One of the WORST presidents this country has ever had. Nothing good came from his presidency.

You mentioned Eisenhower as well. He did well with the interstate system he pushed. It was a great thing for America. He was weak in many areas, but overall a pretty good leader.

Biden has been the second worst president so far! He's been ruling by edict, lying to the people, has no true authority in himself to do anything, and is being handled by everyone around him. His mental decline is obvious, and he doesn't beling in the Oval Office.

Nixon was a boil on the behind of the Republican party with his scandal ridden administration! He should NEVER have been the POTUS!

I give credit to whom credit is due...many of the POTUS' we've had over the past 60 years have embroiled themselves in controversy and scandal. I don't know of one POTUS who hasn't to some degree. But, many still do some good things for the country.

With all of this said...we're getting off of the purpose of this thread. So, please, let's get back to it.

I am curious. What did Trump do that you liked?

Three things I did not like at all.

  • The total waste of billions of dollars on a worthless wall. For $100 I can go to any hardware store and buy what I need to go over, under, or through the wall.
  • The huge run-up in national debt under Trump, 6.7 trillion to be exact. I remember well how Republicans' screamed about the national debt prior to Trump but were totally mute on his excessive spending.
  • The taking away of protected land to allow companies to rape the land. He is the only president who took away more protected lands than he protected.

You do realize I was being sarcastic?

The Carter era was pure misery for our family as well as much of country.

Mr. Trump improved our economy for one. He helped make more job through tax cuts and incentives...something this administration has yet to do. All Mr. Biden has done is destroy the economy and jobs and done his best to continue to make people dependent upon government for money. He's driven this country deeper into debt. As for Mr. Trumps wall, I have to say that it was one of the best things he ever did. I know many ranchers in Texas and Arizona who own land right along the border. It decreased the number of people coming over the walls. And BB, you know full well that most Mexican's and other S.American compadres couldn't afford to buy those items mentioned to climb the wall, so stop being so obtuse. I find you'e intentionally obtuse on many things. Be honest about your hero Biden's excessive buildup of the national debt. Continuing to pay people NOT to work isn't the American way of doing things...it's more like his Beijing and Russian friends way of doing things. Socialism/Communism. Personally, I don't care about President's putting oil wells on public lands. Most of them aren't a series of wells in a row, and they don't really do much to kill the beauty of the site. We need to be energy independent, and we WERE under Mr. Trump...now, once again, under Joe Biden, we're once again depending on our enemies for energy. So, BB, be honest. It's apparent that you really haven't been.

I see once again that the only POTUS you focused on was Donald Trump. You've got tunnel vision.

There isn't enough difference in the economy under Obama or Trump for either to brag. The GNP grew at basically the same rate under each man. Trump's tax cut for the rich did not give the economy a 'huge' bump up.

From the LA Times

In December 2017 , Trump had talked about GDP rocketing to “4, 5, and maybe even 6% or higher.” But despite his big corporate tax cut, GDP growth didn’t come close to reaching the average yearly gains of 4% in the 1990s and twice that in the early 1950s.

https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2020-10-27/trump-vs-obama-who-really-did-better-on-the-economy

Of course once the Pandemic set in the economy took a huge hit. Interesting isn't it, under the last two GOP presidents they left office with a deteriorating economy. Because of his poor reaction to COVID the economy was hit harder than it would have had he reacted intelligently.

The economy when Bush left office was in free fall. It had been obvious for a year this was going to happen and Bush hoped the bubble would not break before he left office. If it had they the GOP could have falsely blamed the Democrats. Unfortunately for Bush the bubble did burst before he left office and the economy was, as I said, in free fall. Fortunately a depression was avoided through the infusing of billions of dollars, some of it wisely and some foolishly.

Trump inherited a solid economy. He was fortunate and it helped his record. You can read more at:

https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/economy/reports/2017/06/01/432923/obamas-legacy-economy-anything-mess/

Trump gave the super rich a great tax break. As I am not super rich it didn't help me. In fact if you look at my tax returns it hurt me because of other things he did.

Trump did not inherit a solid economy. Even Obama admitted they failed in creating "shovel ready jobs".

Most people that I know of voted for Trump for three reasons:

1) Bring back jobs to America that were bleeding out to overseas which would include cutting taxes.

2) Build a wall to stop the illegal invasion.

3) Stop the apology tour.

That's what MAGA was all about. It had nothing to do with race or gender. It had nothing to do for longing for the days when the white man ran the show. It was about American Exceptionalism, though.

Actually, to think of it, there was one more reason especially for me:

4) No more endless wars in the Middle East.
