One is a preacher and one is an author who claims he was a devil satanist . Should we avoid these Christians and are they deceiving many people and not teaching what the Bible really says.

Or are they good?

Francis Chan teaches that Baptism is how someone gets their sins forgiven. That is false teaching and yes he should be avoided.

See Ephesians 2:8-9 and 1:12-14.

also study the Thief on the cross

I don't know who John Ramirez is, but I've heard some of Francis Chan's preaching online, and he is about as solid as a house made up of cards. Seems like your normal contemporary preacher that sounds good on the surface only.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I just can't help it. This kind of thing is exactly why I continue to say that folks have no need to go outside of their own local church. To do so only opens us up to not only bad preaching, but also to dangerous preaching. It is especially dangerous for those who may be newly saved and not grounded in The Word.
