Who is the army that comes with Jesus?

Who is the army that comes with Jesus at the end of the tribulation?

`Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And he who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God.

And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed on white horses. Now out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should strike the nations. And he himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name written - King of Kings and Lord of Lords.` (Rev. 19: 11 - 16)

Quite an awesome picture of the Lord`s return to earth in power and great glory. With him we see that he has his army with him.

I would like to open this discussion with the question -

Who is this army? And what scriptural references do you have to show this?

Regards, Marilyn.

I would like to present who I believe is this army.

`they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds with power and great glory. And he will send his angels...` (Matt. 24: 30 & 31)

`When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him...` (Matt. 25: 31)

`the Son of Man comes in His glory, and in the glory of the holy angels.` (Luke 9: 26)

Thus I believe that the army that comes with the Lord Jesus Christ is his angelic army.

regards, Marilyn.

Marilyn,

This prophecy of the end of the tribulation after the saints have been raptured and rewarded tells us that a twoedeged sword will be given to the saints to execute the heathen so we will be in the army of God with the angels. But it will be the honor of the saints to do the killing.

Psalm 149:4-9

4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;

7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.

Habakkuk 3:11-13

11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.

13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

Hi Eric,

You are quoting from the Old Testament about the Body of Christ, when there was no knowledge or mention of it. God tells us that the Body of Christ was not made known to others previously, but rather to the Apostle Paul.

`How that by revelation He made known to me the mystery......which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men.....that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ...` (Eph. 3: 3 - 6)

Do you believe in the catching up of the church before the tribulation?

Yes I do Eric.

When the Holy Spirit has brought in the last great truth to be clarified across the Body, (the Eternal Purposes in Christ) then the Body of Christ will have been brought to the unity of the Faith,  (Eph. 4: 13) and will be caught up to meet Christ the head of the Body. The believers will then escort (meaning of meet) the Lord to His own throne where together they will rule and reign with Christ on His throne. (Rev. 3: 21) After Christ`s wonderful crowning amid the glorious heavenly throng, (Rev. 4 & 5) then together we will judge the fallen angels and world system. (1 Cor. 6: 2 & 3)

Amazingly there will be glorified people in the third heaven. utterly amazing, and only believable because God`s word tells us.

So then after the tribulation the Lord Himself comes with His angelic army, of which He is the captain of, (seen throughout scripture) and then deals with the world`s armies, and those who didn`t look after His brethren the Jews, in the trib. Finally the Lord reveals Himself to His brethren (Zech. 12) and as the bridegroom he connects again with the `wife` the betrothed, (Hosea 2: 19)and the `marriage` supper, on earth, (Matt. 22: 12) takes place. God (through Christ) is again united with His people.

Just a quick summary there Eric,

regards, Marilyn.

Marilyn,

I am pre trib too. The marriage feast of the lamb will be in heaven.

Revelation
Chapter 19

1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Hi Eric,

I`m glad you are pre-tri, too bro. So we are mainly sharing the details around that.

Now if the wedding supper is in heaven then how come the man without a wedding garment was able to get in?

`But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.....` (Matt. 22: 11)

Marilyn,

That was a parable for an example. Not a prophecy for what will happen in heaven. We will be given a white robe at the feast. The brightness of our robe will tell the degree of our faithful work here on earth. And will shine forever Daniel 12:1-3.

Daniel
Chapter 12

1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Eric bro,

The Holy Spirit did not reveal to any prophet or person in the Old Testament, about the Body of Christ. Remember the Holy Spirit said through the Apostle Paul that that revelation was not known by people previously. (Eph. 3: 5) So you can`t use OT scriptures for the Body of Christ.

Read Dan. 12 carefully, it is talking about Michael, the angel for Israel, and the `they` are the people that the context is about - Israel. Nothing at all to do with the Body of Christ. You are not correctly distinguishing who is talking to whom, or what God`s purposes are for - the nations, Israel, and the Body of Christ.

Marilyn,

The prophecy was about saints having twoedged swords in heaven and coming down to kill the heathen. Who are the saints in heaven at the end of the tribulation?

Yes Michael is an angel to protect Israel after the devil and his angels are cast to the earth.

But the righteous who win many to righteousness are any people of faith through out history.

Hi Eric,

Ps. 149 concerns the people of Israel executing God`s vengeance upon the nations. As I said previously - which you have not replied to - that the revelation of the Body of Christ was not given to the OT saints.

Now as to Dan. 12: 3 as I said they are the wise of Israel. Once you start saying that applies to any people of faith throughout history, then you have a big jumble. Which scriptures in the OT do you want and which don`t you want!!!! It is not about us, it is about Israel and their inheritance. Our inheritance is different.

God`s word is for us to read BUT it is NOT all about us. We learn of Christ and His purposes for - the Body of Christ, for Israel and for the nations. Muddle those up and you have a mushy soup of errors.

Marilyn,

Psalms
Chapter 149

1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

3 Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;

7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.

All the saints which includes the meek saved Jews.

You have both got it wrong here.

Daniel 11 is a complete prophecy of the Jewish nation from Alexander to Herod and the Romans. Chapter 12 goes straight on from that and  Michael stands up for his people  at the first coming of the Lord Jesus when he came to confirm the covenant with many.  After that the tribulation of AD 66-70 when Daniel's people, the believing Jews whose names were written in the book of life were written in the Book Of Life, escaped the city according to the Lord's commands when they saw the abomination of desolation, that is the Roman Armies surrounding Jerusalem, were to flee Jerusalem and Judah.

Only Christians will have everlasting life, verse 2.

The wise at that time were the Jewish Christians who understood the command of Jesus to flee the city.
