CCM And their influence

This is a personal choice issue, but my concerns and in no way advocate "for" some Christian music.  The problem, as my discernment, has to do with the lyrics. Lyrics  are not the Word of God, and since those who write lyrics are musically talented but not necessarily even spiritually mature,  artistic concerns dominate these choices rather than doctrinal purity.  To put it another way, there almost no Christian lyrics I have ever heard that were not "off" in one way or another, and sometimes WAY off.  Immature believers and/or those easily swayed may thus be led spiritually astray by giving their  attention to these things, especially considering that music has a powerful emotional effect.  So by listening and "giving in" to  music with lyrics that are spiritually "off", we are going to be fighting against ourselves rather than furthering our spiritual growth. It's often a matter of degrees, of course.  And the truly sad  thing is that in the vast majority of Christian churches today, this music -- with its off-center lyrics -- has come to dominate and replace teaching rather than to be restrained to its proper role of support. This is just my opinion. Feel free to add your opinion.

God Bless!

It bugs me when they sing this one at our church sometimes ......

I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in
And then a little light from heaven filled my soul
He bathed my heart in love and wrote my name above
And just a little talk with my Jesus made me whole
(Now let us) have a little talk with Jesus (let us) tell him all about our troubles
(He will) hear our faintest cry (and we will) answer by and by
(Now when you) feel a little prayer wheel turning
(Then you'll) know a little fire is burning
(You will) find a little talk with Jesus makes it right

Isn't that "Buddism" or something?

Yeah, bhuddists have a little wheel thing they spin with prayers written on it, but some Christians use the phrase "prayer wheel" to refer to a "circle of friends" who pass prayer requests around in an organised way.

Sort of like a "sewing circle" but with prayer.

That phrase in the song doesn't sit well with me.

I have some recent (not ccm) songs which are actually good doctrinally, but it is really hard to find.
