Ha! That got your attention.

James 5:11

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Most often not used the same today. It means the Lord is full of pity. I'm certainly thankful for that! Study them King James words y'all.

That would get our attention since the typical use of this adjective may have changed from how it was used in this verse.

The adjective pitiful may be used presently for someone who needs pity or compassion or for someone who is pitied or is pitiable instead of in the way that it was used in this verse in the KJV to mean "full of pity."  This typical present use of the adjective may be almost the opposite of the meaning "full of pity."

Yes, exactly right. So it's best to not just read over verses in the King James and assume we know what is being said because there are quite a few words like this. The present English language has corrupted; the King James has not.
