Members Alan
One day we heard a Sparrow fly into our house and fall down between the wall frame. We had to cut a hole in the plasterboard in the wall to get it out. And discovered there were two of them. They were still dazed, or weak from exhaustion, and I had enough time to hold them for awhile while Sherry (my wife), took their photo. After while they were well enough to fly away. I think they are Eurasian Tree Sparrows (very common in Asia). We love the sparrows, along with a few other kinds of birds. They are in abundance where we live and their chirping is like music to our ears. Members Invicta
They are still eaten in some countries. A work colleague was visiting Portugal and saw a street vendor selling paella and asked what were those in it. He said "sparrows". A pastor at a church we used to attend visited the area and remarked to a local that there were no songbirds. "No" he said "We eat them." It seems we used to here as the old nursery rhyme says, "Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie."
