Members Popular Post No Nicolaitans
I've put a very simple, basic, and small website together that offers people the chance to listen to the Bible. There's also a bible that you can read on the site too. I've kept it basic so the focus would be the Bible. I realize there are probably countless sites that already offer this service, and I realize that people (like me) already have an audio bible...but I wanted to do it anyway. One thing that sets this one apart is the narrator. I know Alexander Scourby is probably the most widely known and used (I have it myself), but you have to get permission to use his narration publicly...as you do with all others that I looked into when I made this audio bible. However, I found one that you could freely use. He's a retired minister from California, and he sounds (as I put it)...like a sweet ol' grandpa. I actually prefer to listen to him now. I substituted the flash player audio bible that I made with one from Archive.org, because it's a HTML5 player...and people are starting to move away from flash players...especially on mobile devices. The audio bible works great on mobile devices, but the visual bible hasn't been optimized to work on mobiles. Anyway, I hope some people will get some use from it. If you like it, you'll need to bookmark it on your computer. Weebly has changed, and I don't think they offer search engine optimization for free websites anymore...so, I don't think you'd find it by searching for it. Anyway, for anyone interested, for anyone who may not already have an audio bible, for anyone looking for a different narrator, or for anyone else for whatever reason... Members Ronda
Thank you so very much for sharing this brother "NN", I bookmarked the page, and I believe I will be listening to it  often (God willing)!  This is excellent because I noticed I don't have to continuously click each chapter, but it will automatically go to the next!!!! Yes, I do like Alexander Scourby's voice (and have gotten used to hearing his narration) but I agree, this man narrating is not an abrasive voice at all either. Very well enunciated wording as well! Thank you again! What a blessing!!! No Nicolaitans

Members John81
I really like this. It plays well while I'm doing other things online unlike some others I've tried which often were unable to play properly while I was doing other simple tasks online. Members No Nicolaitans
Just wanted to let people know that I went ahead and added my flash-based audio Bible to the site also. Earlier today, I was experiencing LONG loading times...it took forever for the player to even appear. I don't know if it was the computer I was using or something to do with the Archive.org player. The flash-based player can be accessed by hovering your mouse pointer over "HOME" in the main menu of the site, then click on "Alternative Flash-based Player" in the drop-down menu. Members No Nicolaitans
I just sent an email to the appropriate individuals to ask for permission to use the Alexander Scourby narration. Hopefully, they will respond soon. Say a prayer that they will approve it. If they do, don't hold your breath waiting for it to be on the website... It takes A LONG time to do everything, and I'll basically be starting over from scratch. I'll have to use a completely different player too, because people can embed the current player on other websites (if they want to), and I doubt very seriously if the Scourby folks would go for that. If they approve it, my intent is to add it as an additional listening option rather than to replace the current one. John81

It's been over a month since I sent the request, and I know they received the request, because someone from their company visited the site (that I made for the Audio Visual Bible) the same day that I submitted the request. I hate to say this, but it bugs me when someone doesn't even have the decency to respond. I would have been fine with a short-quick "I'm sorry, but no." That's one of my pet-peeves...people no longer have common courtesy. I guess the almighty dollar is more important to them... Moderators Ukulelemike Posted February 24, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 24, 2016 Maybe the James Earl Jones version might work better? Who doesn't want to hear God speak in the voice of Darth Vader? No Nicolaitans

Members John81
When I think of God speaking I hear the "voice of God" from the old Ten Commandments movie with Charlton Heston! Jim_Alaska
Moderators Ukulelemike Posted February 24, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 24, 2016 We have a local radio personality, out of Reno, named Ross Mitchell, who has a great deep voice, rather of the quality of Thurl Ravenscroft, voice of Tony the Tiger. He'd do a good Bible recording. Maybe I ought to suggest it to him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNkc14S6nFM Â
