Members Popular Post Pastor Scott Markle
With the entrance of the new year, I have been burdened to engage somehow in a forum Bible study that would contain both doctrinal depth and instructional edification. At present my thought is that this Bible study should cover a passage of not more than 10 chapters. (Actually, for the first attempt at such a Bible study, I would think that it would be better to have a smaller number of chapters; however, I do not desire to limit the guidance of the Holy Spirit in this matter.) Furthermore, my thought is that this Bible study would (at first) encompass two complimentary threads -- (1) This very thread, which would be for instructional guidance concerning the process of the Bible study or for personal testimonials concerning the benefit of the Bible study; and (2) The Bible study thread itself. (Now, I recognize that in any Bible study, disagreement and debate may arise. If such points of disagreement or debate were to arise with intensity, then it would be my interest that additional side threads would be started specifically to handle those matters, so as not to detract and distract from the Bible study itself.) Finally, my thought is that I would serve as a type of "administrator" for this Bible study (as the one who would initiate it). It may even be of value if some administer(s) of the forum might cooperate with me in this regard. (Now, I present that point only from a more general perspective; for I do not have any idea as to how such a cooperation might actually and practically be administered.) I am fully aware that, having observed my manner of Bible study throughout past discussions, some members may have no desire to be involved in such a Bible study with me. On the other hand, I believe that there may be other members who would desire to be so involved. If you are one of those who may have such a desire to be involved, either as a more direct contributor or as a consistent observer, I would request that you might express such in this thread. In addition, if you might have a passage of Scripture that you would desire for us to engage in this Bible study, please mention it also. (Note: I do request that you might avoid choosing a passage specifically for the reason that it is a passage of controversy. I am not indicating that we should avoid any passage that might contain a controversy, but I am requesting that we might avoid that as the primary motive for choosing a given passage.) Members busdrvrlinda54
I would most certainly appreciate a good Bible study. I would only, however, be a "consistent observer". Thank you very much for the offer, it is indeed a good one. Maybe, since you suggested keeping it short for this first study, perhaps one of Paul's shorter epistles? Sister Linda, (I pray that I am understanding the name correctly -- "busdrvrlinda54") I have also thought that one of the shorter New Testament epistle would be appropriate. Yet we shall see how the Holy Spirit might guide through other suggestions. trapperhoney
Members Rebecca
I would be interested in such a Bible study thread, thank you! The book of I John might be a good short book to begin with. If you went with OT, the books of Ruth or Esther are some shorter books that would be interesting to study. trapperhoney, Pastor Scott Markle and Rosie
Members Alimantado
Pastor Markle--yes please! And as a consistent observer. And I might suggest some sort of passage about how, as believers, we interact with a local church. But equally I'd be happy for it to be about some other topic/passage that we haven't much discussed on the forum of late and I see there have been suggestions already. Members Pastor Scott Markle
Thank you, all, for the interest expressed thus far, and for the various suggestions. Please understand that I do not intend to begin the Bible study immediately (with the next two days); for I do not desire to "rush past" the guidance of the Holy Spirit, but rather to pray for a time over the matter of the appropriate passage (in accord with the various suggestions). trapperhoney

Administrators HappyChristian Posted January 2, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 2, 2016 I've been chatting with Ronda. She is currently locked out of the forum and we are working on getting it reversed. But she wanted me to let you know she is very interested in a study. Maybe on Heaven? or Hell? or even the characteristics of God? Pastor Scott Markle
Members Alan
Looking forward to whatever subject, or Epistle, or Old Testament, passage (or book), that you would choose for your Forum Bible Study. Pastor Scott Markle

Members Musician4God1611
Very interested. I would like us to work our way through the Epistles. Pastor Scott Markle
Members TheSword
You can certainly count me in and I'll contribute as much as I can. As far as topic, I don't have a preference at the moment. I like to study just about everything, though I think it'd be wise if we stay away from prophecy for the first go-around.
