Moderators Popular Post OLD fashioned preacher Posted September 3, 2015 Moderators Popular Post Share Posted September 3, 2015 The Mod Room, nice ring. You see, with a reduction of # of mods a while back, Bro. Matt moved us from a shack to a closet. However, due to Bro. Mike and myself taking so much space that we almost squeezed HC out of the closet and poor little Salyan was almost imbedded into the door, he at least relented and gave us a whole room. But, back on track with the intended subject: There has been discussion back in the mod room concerning recent contention and disturbances It was decided that the lack of warning points (or lack of teeth behind them) has resulted in boundaries being pushed (shoved, or terrorized) in a manner like unto petulant school kids. I offered to be the heavy here -- soooooooo: If someone lays down 145 rules specifying do and don't pertaining to the established do and don't list with a do and don't clarification list --- someone (or ones) will seek to defend themselves with "no subpoint of any point of any subsection of any section of any rule written says ...." The mods may not be able to articulate why your activity seems to be in a violation of the spirit of fellowship, discussion and even disagreement between basically like minded believers --- but we can generally recognize it. If someone's activity, perceived demeanor and/or rhetorical pattern strikes the mods as going beyond defense (or clarification) of a stance that is contrary to the general stance of the main body of OB or it's staff, don't balk and squawk when you get a warning point. Does this mean everything that runs contrary to the perceived stand of the OB body and/or staff is taboo --- ABSOLUTELY NOT! However, let's face it; there have been some who have been given much space to let us know what they believe, why and how they tick but have taken their bone and gnawed on it in every thread that they could worm it into (and before anyone gets all bowed up, I'm referring to over a year ago). If we feel your activity is actively "promoting" Calvanism, Preterism, alcohol, etc you might find attention from staff. Again, does that mean if you don't fit the "checklist" keep your mouth shut? No. Keep in mind where you are (Bro Matt's IFB living room). Yes.,there will always be someone who disagrees with who was "gotten on to" and who was not. Just me personally (different mods are different - kinda like "real" people, eh?), I may not respond to your complaint (just chalk it up to years of dealing with drunks, juvenile delinquents of delinquent parents and the ever present drama queens and kings). As always, you can appeal all decisions to Bro Matt. Do I expect everyone to always keep emotions in check? No, it would help but isn't realistic -- even the mods have been known to not back away from the keyboard and let feelings run the fingers.
