Isaiah 13:6-16 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. 14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. 15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. 16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

Isaiah 24:21-23 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. 22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. 23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

Joel 2:10-11 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

Joel 2:31-32 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Joel 3:15-17 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. 16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. 17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

Amos 8:9-10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.

Matthew 24:29-35 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mark 13:24-27 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

Luke 21:25-29 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Acts 2:16-21 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Revelation 8:12-13 And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. 13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

Revelation 9:1-12 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. 6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. 12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

Revelation 16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

We are in the kingdom age.

The Kingdoms of this world are still under the authority of Satan by God's will due to the sin of Adam. Jesus and God the Father will take back the ownership but not possession of earth after the two witnesses minister for 1260 days at the beginning of the tribulation period Revelation 11:14-15.

We are in the kingdom age.

What planet do you live on? Setting aside all the Scriptures this idea ignores completely as explained to you 100s of times on this forum, lets look at the world as it is today. Not just the tiny portion around Jerusalem you folks keep referencing.

Surely as the heathen are endowed with common sense (Romans 1:20), a professing Christian MUST have the same sense. Look around and explain where Christ is King on this sin cursed earth right now? Where does Righteousness reign on this planet?  The lost's acceptance of the Gospel these days is a watered down shadow of what it was prior to 70AD simply because professing Christians these days are a watered down, worldly, pale shadow of what we were prior to 70AD. This planet is truly now like unto the days of Noah. The South Carolina sized portion of it you believe was the whole world was back in 70ad wasn't even as bad as the whole planet is now. Now the whole ball of wax is filled with depravity, ruled by reprobates. Do you live under a rock studying false teachings all day?

So in the opinion of your false teachers, officially forgetting God in all of human government is described in the Word on Christ's Kingdom age? Homo marriage is described in the Word as Christ's Kingdom age? Roman paganism being the largest religion is described as Christ's Kingdom age? Muslims running amuck murdering countless professing followers of Christ is described as Christ's Kingdom age? ETC ETC.

AMAZING

Would you agree these are the same events Jesus is speaking of in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21?

Does everyone agree these horrible things never happened in 70AD?

Let's see the context of those events - they are dramatic, but are they all future end times?

Isaiah 13 refers to the judgement against Babylon by the Medes - Isa. 13:1  Isa. 13:17
See e.g. Daniel 5:30-31

Isaiah 24 reads like the final judgement of the earth. Specific countries are not identified.

Joel 2:1-27 describes graphically a plague of locusts - Joel 2:25 - that was taking place at the time. A cloud of flying locusts does darken the sun, moon & stars. The locusts may be a mercy, in that repentance would prevent a military invasion (by Nineveh or Babylon Joel 2:20 ) & the LORD would be gracious. Joel 2:17 See also Amos 7.

Joel 2:28-32 is quoted by Peter at Pentecost, - Acts 2 - & all Jerusalem would know that the sun was darkened while the Lord hung on the cross.

Joel 3 follows the prophecy of Pentecost, and appears to be the final rebellion (Gog-Magog) before the Lord's second coming for resurrection & judgment, & to establish the NH&NE. See Rev. 20:7-15

Amos 8 precedes Amos 9 - quoted by James in Acts 15 as being fulfilled by the Gospel gathering both Jews & Gentiles. The reference is to Calvary - even the mourning of an only son. Judgement & blessing. Note the allusion to Dan. 9, where the death of Messiah results in the covenant being confirmed for many, for blessing, but the feasts being turned to mourning.

There are other references to darkness & clouds & heavenly signs in the OT - the pillar or cloud or fire leading & protecting the people in the wilderness, the LORD owning tabernacle & temple at the dedication by descending in a cloud. We should not assign these to a future tribulation - they are recorded as visible occurrences.

I'll post again concerning the NT references, before I vote. But note that when Jesus made his Olivet prophecies, his hearers would have known the OT Scriptures.

I belong to Jesus but he has told us to minister to this world to reconcile the people back to God.

I live on earth which is under the authority of Satan but I belong to Jesus.

Mr 1:15  And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Mt 16:28  Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Lu 9:27  But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

Joh 18:36  Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Mt 3:2  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Mt 4:17  From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mt 8:11  And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

Mt 11:11  Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Are you in that kingdom, or not?

If the Jews had accepted Jesus at that time the Kingdom would have started then but they rejected Jesus and the time of the Gentiles began instead of the Kingdom of God.

The devout Jews did accept Jesus - 3,000 at Pentecost, 5,000 a few days later, & before the 70th week was ended,  the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

At Pentecost there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

After the lame man was healed, Peter assured his hearers, Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. 26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. ..... Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

The LORD Jesus Christ confirmed the covenant with many, as Gabriel prophesied, but for those who rejected Messiah & the covenant, only desolation remained. Peter repeated Moses warning,  For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. 24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

Those who did not accept Jesus were destroyed in AD 70, this generation, within 40 years. Every vestige of the earthly Jewish kingdom was destroyed as Jesus' heavenly kingdom was established. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. Yes, God has not yet gathered out of his kingdom all things that offend - he is longsuffering - he has sinners to save. BUT -

He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Jesus is King of kings & Lord of lords,& all believers are presently citizens of his kingdom.

Would you agree these are the same events Jesus is speaking of in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21?

Does everyone agree these horrible things never happened in 70AD?

We can take the Olivet prophecies together. How can we understand Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:  as occurring at the AD 70 destruction? We know that actual sun darkening occurred while Jesus hung on the cross, that Joel records the sun being darkened by a cloud of locust. (See also Rev. 9: 2 ) Isaiah 13 prophesies sun darkening at the time of the Medes conquering Babylon. There is no compelling reason to place the darkening to an "end time" event, other than the end of the Jewish state as also prophesied by Gabriel in Dan. 9. Nor to consider the tribulation as other than events of the destruction.

Joseph dreamed of the sun, moon & stars bowing down to him - immediately understood by his father & brothers - Gen. 39:9-11 - and a greater than Joseph was speaking. We have a figurative use of sun, moon & stars as a precedent.

The details of the AD 70 destruction are not recorded in Scripture, but they are given in prophecy. There is no difficulty in understanding a real darkening, bearing in mind that God was bringing to an end the city & temple built for him.

Acts 2, quoting Joel is referring to the sun darkening at Calvary.

The events in Revelation may be AD 70 or a tribulation before Jesus returns. I can't go further in this post.

So in response to the poll question, sun darkening was prophesied by the Lord Jesus to occur at the AD 70 destruction, as it did at other times in recorded Biblical history. Not all the prophecies relate to AD 70,

I can vote "yes" to AD 70, but I would also vote that such occurrences are yet to happen towards the end of time. We need a few more options.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Matthew 24:29.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26  Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luke 21 25-26

These signs were in figurative language describing the horror that would follow the  fall of Jerusalem.  The Temple destroyed, The priesthood abolished.  Many Jews crucified and so many sold into slavery that the cost of slaves in the Roman empire plummeted.  See Duet 28.  That chapter also mentions the sky becoming dark and the heavens as brass if they rejected their God,  Read it  This is in fact similar figurative language to that often used in the OT when speaking of the judgment of nations.

In Joseph's dream Genesis 37:9-11 his family are represented symbolically by sun moon and stars.  His father recognised the symbolism in this prophetic dream.

When obedient Israel was promised bright day, blessings,

Psalm 37:5  Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6  And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Isaiah 58:8 ¶  Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. 9  Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; 10  And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: 11  And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Conversely. When disobedient they were promised dark days.  Amos 2:8-9

Similar language was used to describe the destruction on Egypt by Nebuchadnezzar. Ezekiel 30:6-18  Ezekiel 32:2-15  The destruction of Idumea'  Isaiah 34:4-10. The fall of Babylon Isaiah 13:6-31   6 ¶  Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 7  Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt: 8  And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 9  Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10  For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 17  Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 18  Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.
19 ¶  And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
Not an end of time prophecy but fulfilled, see Daniel 5 28-31  Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. 29  Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.     30 ¶  In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain. 31  And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

Similar symbolic language was used to describe the earlier fall of Jerusalem in the OT  Darkness etc.Zephaniah 1:4,15.  Isaiah 5:3:30. Jeremiah13:9.10, 16-19.  Micah 3:6,12.

None of these were literal.   Sun, moon stars being darkened, stars of heaven disolved, the heavens becoming brass, none of them referred to end times but specific judgments of God on various nations.

The tribulation of the Olivet prophecy was for a specific land, Judea.  A specific city, Jerusalem, A specific people the Jewish nation. The symbolism refers, not a short tribulation of a few years, but a complete overthrow.

This can be personalized by any partial preterist interpreter. The more the interpreter moves to literally fulfilled in 70 AD the more he moves to full preterism. Partial preterists see full preterists and dispensationalists as heretics. Dispensationalists see all of it as end of time, also they see partial and full preterists as heretics.
