The Positive Side of Getting Old

Some of us forgot that we are getting perks for reaching 50 or being over 60 or are already 70 or more!

1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

2. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

3. No one expects you to run ... anywhere.

4. People call at 9 PM and ask, did I wake you?

5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.

6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.

7. Things you buy now won't wear out.

8. You can eat supper at 4 pm.

9. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.

10. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.

11. You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.

12. You sing along with elevator music.

13. Your eyes won't get much worse.

14.  Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.

15. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the National Weather Service.

16. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.

17. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size.

18. You can't remember who sent you this list.

Downsides: bad backs. And it doesn't take anything to throw it out, it just...happens.  I split wood with an axe, cut down brush with the same, haul hay, chase and wrassle 200 pound goats, no sweat. But wait, let me bend slightly to attach my trailer chain to my truck Aaaaaaand, there goes my back. I've done it taking the clothes out of my dryer, sitting in the restroom, takes nothing, literally.   BUT, on the plus side, in 4 years I can order from the senior menu at Denny's.

Another big plus is grandchildren & the fact that our singing is appreciated. We can share our second childhood with them. Though not on the climbing frames :(

We are a source of living history

We are (hopefully) examples of the benefits of godly living

We have time to do things we always wanted to do. In my case music - choir & piano (keyboard)

BUT

If we start feeling we are getting older in our fifties (as I did) it's time to make a lifestyle change - & experience the benefits.

Many years ago I told my children I would admit to being middle-aged when they could beat me at table tennis. They would have a hard time today.
