Hopefully the pastor knows the difference between those who will tell him the truth and those who will just automatically give a pleasant response.

To the three days and nights: I agree it's very clear in Scripture Jesus didn't just spend one day and a bit of two other days buried. The wording is as plain, as pointed out, as the creation account (which there are many who deny the creation account means literal days).

Doesn't this issue also stem from the Catholics with their invention that "Good Friday" is when Jesus was crucified? Scripture points out it was a special, high Sabbath, not a normal weekly Sabbath coming upon them (which is why they had to rush the deaths and burials of those crucified).

Passover was on Thursday. Passover is a special high Sabbath. Nissan 14, 3795 or April 22, 0034. Passover doesn't always fall on weekly Saturday or Sabbath.

Jesus died on preparation day that would make it April 21, 0034 AD or Nissan 13 3795 Wednesday.

When the Catholics started our modern calender they started with year 1 instead of year 0. This meant Jesus was born 1 year old. So if Jesus lived 33 years + 1 year for the catholic error he died in 34. Also that makes the Passover Sabbath work out for being in the grave for 3 days AND 3 nights. Every year of my saved life Catholics have kept up the lie rather than admit a monk made an error with the dates and "good Friday" has been incorrect.

If we had kept the Jewish Calender none of this would be an issue.

Actually I believe Jesus was born around 5BC-primarily because, according to the current calendar, Herod the Great, who was the king that sought to kill Jesus, died in 4BC. Of course, because of a monk's mistake, we may never be exactly sure on any of those dates. So, if that's the case, then Jesus was actually born 5 years before Christ-HA! Then He would have died on about 29AD, I believe. But I honestly am not sure, haven't personally done that math.

Passover in that year was Saturday April 16, 0029 Jewish date Nissan 14, 3790

If it were important we know the exact date the Holy Ghost would have included such in Scripture.

By faith we should accept that when Scripture says three days and three nights, it means exactly that and certainly could not refer to a Friday death, quiet Saturday sabbath, Sunday morning rising.

Ad far as I know, there is only one firm date is scripture.

  •  Luke 3: 1 ¶  Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, 2  Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. 3  And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

Historians say Tiberius assumed power in AD 14.  If that date is correct, then John began his ministry in AD 29. .  Again assuming that date is correct, Jesus could not have been born before 2 BC
