I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

 

Big Man is still busy destroying things. He killed a tree nearly the diameter of a dinner plate, is working on another one now which is about 16'' in diameter along with several smaller ones and has turned some of his steel cattle-panel enclosure into a twisted wreck. His feeder won't hold much hay anymore because he broke the side boards, perpendicular to the grain; snapping them like twigs. I need to fix the feeder and see if I can save those trees before he kills them all. Shepherding would be much simpler if you didn't need a ram.

Here are the trees "Big Man" is working on now with bark in various stages of damage..  He rams them and rubs some of them, much like a buck deer would do, until the bark/cambium layer is destroyed so the tree's circulation is cut off and it dies. At the far end of the photo is a smaller oak that he backs up and pounds repeatedly. It is shattered with splinters and strings of wood protruding everywhere. I am going to cut down some of the smaller trees and see if I can guard the larger ones with metal or something so he doesn't kill all of his shade.
