Senators Open letter To Iran

It came from Senator Cotton's website so I took it as actual.

I heard a short blurb about it on the news but they didn't give any details into what the letter actually said.

To me, the letter seems poorly written and more like something a high schooler might write rather than a senator. Maybe they should have put more thought into this rather than, as it seems, just trying to score some political points.

The letter could have been better written. It seems like a warning to Iran to sit up and take notice. It also seems like some of our senators actually want to stand up against Obama. It's about time though that our elected representatives follow the Constitution of United States of America than the dictates of a President who violates the Constitution whenever he sees fit.

If the letter is factual I think it is good for our country and for the defense of America and Israel. Once Iran gets a nuclear weapon they will not stop at one weapon and then they will use all that they have against the United States and our ally, and friend, Israel.

A house divided can not stand, how much longer until the American government falls.

The central, or federal government as we call it, was intended to be divided as well as slow moving and limited in power. One of the founding intents was that much discussion, debate and compromise, concession, consideration and time be given to all major matters. They hoped this would help avoid rushes to action based upon emotion or political expediency; jumping to conclusions, making decisions without having full knowledge or understanding of a matter, etc.

Throughout our history the central government has been "divided" in the sense that not each congressman, political party, State or others involved were in agreement.

One major difference between then and now comes in the form of giving very little consideration to what's actually best for the country (in the short as well as the long term) rather than doing what they think is best for their own political career or Party. That's the type of division that brings a house down.

Taken from:

Does Iran Really Want a Bomb?
By Patrick J. Buchanan

We do not know exactly what is in the Kerry deal, but what has been revealed thus far is no cause for panic or hysteria.

Though Israel has 200 atomic bombs, Iran has not produced a single ounce of uranium enriched to bomb-grade 90 percent.

Since talks began, Iran has diluted all of its 20-percent enriched uranium and halted production. Tehran is willing to cut her operating centrifuges by a third.

Inspectors and cameras are now in all of Iran's nuclear facilities. The heavy-water plant at Arak, which would produce plutonium, has been halted. The reprocessing plant that would be needed to extract bomb-grade material has not even been started.

U.S. intelligence agencies in 2007 and 2011 declared, with high confidence, that Iran has no active bomb program.

While Bibi Netanyahu says the Ayatollah tweeted that Israel must be "annihilated," the same Ayatollah issued a fatwa against Iran ever producing nuclear weapons.

We cannot trust Iran, we are told. Correct. Nor should we, as history has proven. Moscow cheated on Nixon's SALT I agreement by replacing its light single-warhead SS-11 missiles with heavy SS-19s with multiple warheads.

But as Meir Dagan, ex-head of Mossad points out, if Iran cheats at any of its facilities, we will know it, and it would take a year before Tehran could produce enough highly enriched uranium even to test a bomb.

Plenty of time to gas up the B-2s.

Another question, too rarely raised, is this:

Why would Iran test and build a nuclear bomb, when this would set off a nuclear arms race across the Middle East and put Iran in mortal peril of being smashed by the United States, or by Israel with a preemptive strike?

--------------

It's been interesting over the years following this story how the intelligence agency reports are basically ignored by both Parties. Building a nuclear bomb is a complicated process that requires just the right material, properly prepared, then put together correctly and tested to find out if it even works. Iran hasn't taken those steps. Even so, for many years we've heard dire warnings from this and that politician declaring emphatically that Iran will have The Bomb in five years, then it was two years, then within a year, then a matter of months, and yet here we are all these years later and Iran is no closer to having a nuclear bomb now than then.

We need to be very cautious of getting caught up in these constant calls for war which are based upon matters other than the sound bites they toss our way.

The moment Iran builds a nuclear weapon is the moment you had better head for a underground bomb shelter. I am not exagerating very much.

The Iranian government is full of psyopathic liars (a little bit worse than our current crop of government leaders), and they openly lie to their own people, and specificly to the West, and will attempt to destroy America and Israel through any means available in its arsenal.

Teddy Roosevelt, one of the best U.S. presidents, said it best when he said, "Walk softly but carry a big stick."

Apart from the blessings of Almighty God upon our country, the constraints that our Founding Fathers created in the Constitution is one of the only factors preventing the liberals, socialists, Communists, and such like, from destroying our country. Our founding Fathers specificly designed our government to be at odds 9 or divided), to one another to prevent one political party from tyranical  (in our modern day venacular; dictorial), control.

No doubt we can find hostile WORDS from Iranian leaders, but how many countries have they invaded since WWII? How many countries have US, UK & Israel invaded?

Have Cotton & Co. been paying too much attention to Netanyahu's rhetoric?  Are they threatening Iran with the intention of destroying constructive "executive agreements?"  Should America jump at the implied suggestion that destroying Iran should be high on a future government's agenda, simply because of the possibility of developing nuclear weapons in the distant future. Even though it is not presently on Iran's agenda?

Is Israel a genuine ally, or are they simply using America as a cash cow & as a weapon in their hands? US soldiers dying for a presently Christ-defying Israel?

We once heard that if North Korea got nuclear weapons it would mean WWIII but they've had them for some time and no nuclear war.

Our (American) own intelligence agencies have consistently reported that Iran isn't working on building a nuclear bomb and they haven't been preparing to do so. We (America) already carry the biggest stick on the playground. Iran knows this and regardless of how crazy some of their leaders may sound, they enjoy their privileged lives and aren't interested in having happen to them what happened to their neighbor Saddaam.

So, either we try to strike the best deal we can with Iran, which includes inspections, cameras and monitoring devices (plus we already know our spy satellites are watching them), and keep close watch on them, with our "big stick" always within hours notice of being able to strike them, and see if such can be made to work...or, we take military action.

If we choose military action there are only two real alternatives:

One: We use airstrikes against all their known and suspected nuclear related facilities. This would also require us to take out their defenses against such which would mean targeting their radar installations, airfields, fighter jets, anti-aircraft artillery and missile batteries, etc. Then hope we did a good enough job to keep them from being able to construct a nuclear bomb for a few years. However, both American and Israeli military commanders have said such a strike can't guarantee this and it's possible such could only slow them for a matter of months, not years, if they chose to pursue building a nuclear bomb.

Two: We go at Iran the same as Bush the Second did against Iraq; full on. According to the American military such an operation would need to be several times larger than what was used against Iraq. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of American ground forces, plus the Navy and Air Force, with a probable eventual cost of a trillion or more dollars.

The decision American leadership has to make is whether we try to find a non-war means of dealing with Iran or if we are ready to commit to a large war and the many consequences, seen and unseen, such would bring about.

I know the answer for part of one of your questions...How many countries have Israel invaded? Zero.

Further, they are blind to the truth and not a majority know "the Prince of Peace."

After taking some time to consider the letter before giving an impression, I've decided these men believe we are are in desperate straights. Desperate times are filled with desperate measures by secular men and Christians. Obama is desperate for a legacy at any cost. These men who drafted and signed the document are desperate for the people to control the Republic.

I believe the drafters/signers felt compelled to send the letter for three reasons. (1) They are tired of the people's (U.S. citizens) will being thwarted by the current administration. (2) They can't trust Obama, Boehner, and Mitchell (I don't know why he signed it) to prevent a bad deal which will pave the path to nuclear weapons for a belligerent nation.  (3) Iran cannot be trusted they would comply, they have lied on several occasions before.

Korea built their bomb from a 5MW Nuclear Power Plant and the simplest form of centrifuge technology of the time. Iran has the spent fuel rods with which to extract and enrich the nuclear material.
