Members ThePilgrim
I don't know if this is the right thread for this but here it is. A weasel riding the back of a woodpecker. While you look at the picture listen to the music in the video below. John81

Members John81
Not exactly .....I was referring to the music and picture combination, but it's good you posted that. It was on my list of things to do (check out just how the woodpecker could fly with the weasel on its back.I saw the picture on the TV at hospital today when my Dad went in for his blood work. Members Rosie
I've heard of hummingbirds hitching a ride on a Canada Goose but this is funnier..
Members John81
They reported on the news this photo is legitimate. Apparently the weasel was attacking the bird which then took flight to escape the attack. They showed a few other photos of the incident and gave credit to the photographer. Moderators Ukulelemike Posted March 8, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 8, 2015 Unless that's a HUGE woodpecker, I suspect that's a Least Weasle, a very tiny subspecies of the weasle. We get them out here, they look little different from an elongated chipmunk. It is an amazing photograph, should get some sort of prize for that. Members Alimantado
It is, but it's just called a weasel in the UK, where the pic was taken, and the woodpecker is a Green Woodpecker. They are two of the commonest woodpecker and mustelid species respectively in UK (though I think neither are found in Ireland). It would be interesting to know whether the bird did actually take flight or whether it's just a mid-air shot of it hopping--it could just be a few feet off the ground. Amazing either way.
Members Alimantado
Oh and you don't really get big woodpeckers in UK like you do in the states--nothing close to the size of the late, great Ivory Billed.
