Yeah!

Be careful! You are now on that dangerous bridge being built between Christians and the world. Some declare the term "yeah" is a link to the Beetles and the worldly hippie culture of the 60s. From there it's also called a bridge to CCM and all things evil.

This and similar arguments regarding beards, proper shirt colors for men and appropriate carpet colors for church are taken very seriously among a few to the point of great fights and splits in some churches.:boxing::makmiday::smilie_loco:4

Um...ok...scary.

I've known of a few churches, as well as several individual Christians over the years who were very hung up and gung ho over various words. For some it was a matter of words such as using "heck" in replace of "hell" and doing so in a manner of what some would call "mild cussing". Yet others took matters to extremes such as the example above with yoking the word "yeah" to the Beetles and by extension making "yeah" a rebellious, sinful word connecting one to worldly rock 'n roll and CCM.

There were a few I met some years ago who wouldn't  watch Charlie Brown cartoons because Charlie sometimes said "good grief". They would really go on the attack if they heard someone use that expression around them! Rather ironically, they called their extreme anger, hurtful and attacking words, judgments pronounced and haughty attitudes "righteous indignation in service of the Lord".

Uh, yeah...
