Moderators Ukulelemike Posted December 3, 2014 Moderators Share Posted December 3, 2014 Its always a good day when you're reading the Bible and you learn something new. Of course, as a pastor, it always makes me feel like I'm behind the ball. Anyways, just a simple fact I came across. I was reading through 1Chronicles 1&2, all those names and begats that so often we find ourselves skimming over. Well, I wasn't skimming last night, and I discovered, much to my surprise, that King David and Joab, his captain, were related, and closely-Joab was David's Nephew! I never knew that! 1Chron 2:13-16: "And Jesse begat his firstborn Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimma the third, Nethaneel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, Ozem the sixth, David the seventh: Whose sisters were Zeruiah, and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah; Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel, three." I honestly never saw that! I love when I learn something new! Even if its just a simple factoid like this, it just proves that the Bible is so full of things to learn, we'll never get it all in this life. Yes, my wife and I were just discussing that last week, as I was preparing a message that had the David/Bathsheba story in it.
