Pet Peeves

Recommended Posts

Waitresses with nose jewelry.  I find it very unappetizing when my food server has things dangling from her nose or hanging from her lip.

It could be worse... you could have been served by this man who OBviously lost a fight with the chef....

We had labs when our son was growing up. Shepherds (part dOBerman) when I was young. There's just something about a beagle...my mom wants mr to bring my beagle (if I get one) to her house due to one of her pet peeves: rabbits everywhere. :-D

That is so sweet, your mom wanting to introduce your beagle to heaven.  Rabbits everywhere is indeed heaven to a "hunting in their blood" beagle.

I grew up with beagles at home from my earliest memories into my teens. We used to do a lot of hunting. Buck was a great rabbit hunting beagle. When he started getting old and going blind we got a pair of beagle siblings (brother and sister). The sister would get in a hurry and overrun the trail and lose it while the brother was on the slow side. Buck helped the brother along and the sister learned to run to Buck when she lost the trail so she could pick it back up again because even nearly blind Buck could still track the rabbits.

Well, I don't live in India, and I don't like nose rings.    That said, if the waitress has one and gives me good service she'll get a nice tip.  Even if she doesn't give good service, she would get a decent tip because we then leave a tract - and we aren't going to stiff a tip and leave a tract at the same time.  Bad witness, that!

My biggest pet peeve?  The fact that I don't have one. I want a dog so badly.  A beagle pup.  That I can name Liberty.  Yes, then I wouldn't have a peeve anymore, I would have a pet.  :clapping:

oh my, if only I knew, someone offered us one for free.  Our landlord wont let us have one.  Plus I hate getting attached and then having it get hit or die on you can be emotional.

Don't get me wrong HC, I loved my beagle (though I will most likely not seek another one) only because they are high maintenance and tend to have "selective hearing" and pay NO attention to you calling their name; about as much as a cat does.  The only thing my cat responds to is the sound of the can opener...

heheheh. I know they are full of life.  But that's all part of the challenge. We did have a beagle when I was quite young.  And he was really well behaved for us.  But we did have a big fenced-in yard.

AVBB - that is too bad!

A peeve I have about pets is that they can be so expensive to buy.  Bleeding heart ads talk about animals needing good homes, but it costs almost as much to buy one as it does to keep it in dog food for a number of years.

I went to a No-kill animal shelter today to sign my dog up to get spayed. Only $80 versus a vet at least $150. While I was there I noticed room after room of cats and just a few dogs in cages, I asked the lady what the percentage of dogs and cats and astonished to find it's about 20% dogs and 80% cats! I thought  it would've balance the opposite. Just interesting info for my area to me.

My dad was hunter of anything in animal kingdom and we usually always had 2 or 3 beagles and a lab. We lost one or two beagles who just got on trail of something (we lived in country) and never found their way home. Labs are great family dogs but they are like a puppy until about 2 years old!

Be thankful you don't want one of my sisters dogs.  She is a nationally renowned breeder and dog show participant of Bernese Mountain Dogs.  She owns the current National Champion.  Her pups sell between $5,000 and $10,000  each!

Out of likes, but loved the pupholder! Wow! I didn't even know dogs could be worth that much, that's crazy! She could have $80,000 on that bench! Unbelievable!

Of those pictured, only one (the one looking away) was a "show quality" 10k dog.  The rest were bargains bought only for their impeccable blood lines.   Don't ask me what makes one show quality.

Those Baptist pastors who denounce "prosperity gospel preachers" while themselves preach a similar message when it comes to giving. There are some of our pastors who preach if you tithe, God will give you a blessing, and if you give more on top of your tithe God will bless you even more. If you want to reap God's blessings, especially financial blessings you must tithe and then give extra.

Then after appealing to the greed portion of the flesh, they play upon the fear, telling the congregation if they don't at least give that tithe, God will cause the husband to get sick so he can't work, God will send a storm that will damage their home or car.

If a pastor is making sure his congregation is saved and growing in Christ, there should be no need to have constant sermons on giving because out of a heart of love the congregation will be giving abundantly already.

As Bro. Garry said in effect in another thread, giving oneself fully to following the Lord leads one to give in full measure too; putting your treasure where your heart is.

Pet peeve:  Software programs/apps or upgrades that try to slip in "tag-along" apps like tool bars.  Never ever click "Typical" recommended install.  Always click custom install so you can strip off all the garbage they try to slip in or you will have the top 6 inches of your monitor filled up with a bunch of tool bars which also drastically slow down your computer.

Pet peeve

People who don't pay into something and thinking that they should have more say about it than anyone else.

ie..back pew, once a month attendance, no tithe paying, every business meeting voting, free casserole eating, preacher bashing, church attendees.

Pet peeve

Everything in the house says  '' Please wait "  I turn on the Tv it says please wait, I turn on the the computer it says please wait, I turn on my cell phone ' please wait, the land line with AT&T says  '' please wait, the coffee maker says ;; please wait '' our new  Range says ''Please wait ''  the washing machine and dryer machine says '' please wait '' , our keyless car says " please wait "  I swipe my bank card at the cash register '' please wait '' I go to the ATM '' please wait  '' I call my office " please wait "  all my clients voice mails says  " please wait "  (all but mine ? ). I called SS '' the rOBot said " please wait '' for the next two hours or call back and " Please wait " again. I feel like I'm being brain washed to " please wait "  for what I don't know ?

I cant get anything done because of having to " Please wait " all day.

all you folks have already covered my pet peeves so I thought I would just throw this one out there.

God bless

In response to #44,

A pet peeve I have is I can't stand to hear religious people making condescending remarks about me or others who God has revealed truth to. Just because they reject that truth does not mean we have to too. And their rejection of a truth doesn't make it any less of a truth.

Ouch.

Post #44 is not directed to anyone here. I don't know where you sit, how often you attend, how much you eat, or how often you bash your preacher. I don't know any of these things about anyone on this forum.

Sounds like someone's under conviction.

It is very undermining to the things that I try to do for the Lord, for others to do nothing and have the loudest voice. That's all I'm saying.

In churches there are a lot of "christians" that come to the benificial things that the church offers and are never seen at any other times.

They never come on a Wednesday night because they just can't make it, but when we have a business meeting on Wed. night they are some of the first ones there.

I do pay tithes. I didn't for a while (and there is not a Bible verse you can show me that I haven't already used to confirm this thought process), but I found that it prevented me from having freedom in Christ! In other words, what right do I have to ask for more money to be added into certain places like missionaries, youth events, homeless ministry, etc if I am not putting money in.

It convicted me to give what was asked of me by the man that God chose to stand in our pulit.

Ephesians 6:5-8 Was my basis for this.

Christians in the world today need to get back to the basics. Everything that you do should be out of love and service to Christ. Where are the servants at these days. Where's the love man!!!!!

That ties into another pet peeve: Those who come to church when they are having a prOBlem, but as soon as things get better they are nowhere near the church. Whether a couple months or a year or more down the line, just as soon as trouble comes up again there they are at church.

We had one guy show up at our church to speak with the pastor because he was upset at finding out his name had been removed from the church active membership role and the mailing list. Our pastor pointed out he hadn't been to church in over five years, had changed phone numbers and never updated that for the church directory, didn't respond to mailings from the church asking about how he was doing, and had made it a point to avoid church members.

The man was still upset! Our pastor told him that at least now he knows how to get him to come to the church!
